If we ran out of cable on a copper bundle, or a new building was opened, we would go in with the data network and drop in an IP phone.

Cable operators have a great opportunity to bundle and offer wireless as a package to consumers. They can do cross-platform applications like gaming TV, mobile phone or computer, and tie-in interactive advertising with wireless. If cable wants to compete, it must offer the quadruple play.

Cable is still a small piece of the pie. The predominant way people will be connecting, even in five years, will be over plain old copper phone wires.

This is the year that we are going to see the phone companies and cable operators offering the same bundle of services. As consumers, we've always done business with both. But now we will choose one or the other. And that is a major market shift.
