The kids swam their ordsprog

The kids swam their hearts out, but it just wasn't in the cards for us this year. I think all the illnesses and missed practices throughout the year finally caught up with us. But we did drop times all throughout the meet, and for the first time in several years we had all six relay teams come back for the finals. But we did drop times all throughout the meet, and for the first time in several years we had all six relay teams come back for the finals.

I knew what my times were and how my practices were progressing and how close I was to the goals I had set for the year. I swam hard. I always swam hard. If I didn't, I knew I would pay for it either the next day or the next meet.

I think we had a nice meet. The kids swam well at different times during the meet. We just weren't as consistent as I had hoped. To get there was a great accomplishment for these kids and hopefully we can get more next year.

We swam pretty well, considering it wasn't a big meet. I thought they stepped up and raced against each other. This meet was a good chance to see the new kids. I have 17 freshmen this year and I need to get a feel for what they can do. We know a meet against Rosary is going to be very tough.

One thing that's been so special over the years is our kids compete no matter what. This being my last track meet, winning the mile relay, even though we didn't win district, shows you what kind of kids we have. Winning the mile relay is always important to us. I think we found four kids that are going to do really well. They're all underclassmen. I expect them to go to Austin, probably this year.

All of our kids swam well. Most of our kids had their best times, and that's all you can ask for at this time of the year.

Everyone at the meet swam one or more best times. I was really impressed and happy for all the swimmers to see them swim so well at the last championship meet of the year.

I'd like to say that everyone swam really well. We had a great meet. We had one slip-up, but we really responded well. I've seen teams crumble after they make a mistake in the first relay, but we didn't.

We were behind the entire first relay until Kaan caught the kid in the last two lengths. We can't deny that we had some doubts going in. We knew that if we lost the first relay it was going to be really tough to bounce back from. So, getting a win there really sparked everyone for the rest of the meet.

Bobby cut some time in the fly and got a good second-place finish there. He added time in the 50, but he won a big race for us. Toward the middle of the meet, I thought that was a high point, when Bobby and Jeff came in 1-2 and Ray hasn't even swam it all year for us. He really stepped up. And so did Jake. He'd never swam it either.

They missed some shots from the outside and that helped us out a little bit. Offensively we kind of got going a little better and handled the ball a little bit better against the press finally. I am still not happy with the way we are handling the press break. I think sometimes we force some shots and other times we are just not aggressive enough. Not very many teams have pressed us this year. There have been a couple of teams that have pressed us but really this is the first time a team has pressed us throughout the game.

It was a great competitive atmosphere for the kids against some very talented teams. Year in and year out these are some of the best teams in the state. So to do some of the things we did on the field was quite impressive. It was a first-class event. Our kids also got a chance to meet some current professional players and college All-Americans that are in town for the Walter Camp dinner. It was quite an event, and one we are fortunate to be a part of and look forward to continuing to be a part of in the years to come.

I think from the outside, things look worse than they are. But those of us on the teams and working on it everyday know how close we have all been to having a completely different season up to this point. You get in an accident that wasn't your fault. Or get caught speeding down pit road. Or have a mechanical problem that wasn't really anyone's doing. Every team is going to have their share of those types of things before the year is over with. If it does, then everything will balance out, and we'll be back in it in no time.

It's great. This is the first time I've ever been to finals. I came to Meet of Champions last year and I didn't even make it to finals. This is the first time I made finals. It was great for me and the guys.

It's always beneficial to have numbers in a track meet. The boys and girls teams each have the maximum number of relay teams, so we hope our depth pays off and we improve over last year.
