There's a reason Butte is ranked second in the state, ... They're a really nice team.

We beat the 10th-ranked team in the country in Minnesota State-Moorhead. They had three ranked guys, and we beat two of them. One of their guys is ranked No. 1, and Blake [Peterson] beat him. Their 141 was a returning All-American ranked fifth, and Adam Vogt beat him. We beat a Div. I team that day, and we beat two more Div. II teams. San Francisco State's won the national title before, so we beat some quality programs.

We're back on the winning track. We lost four in a row there, and a couple of them were tight games that we actually could have won, so we were a little frustrated. It's just nice to get a win, especially a win against a team ranked higher than us, because we've managed to beat the teams ranked below us, but we haven't beaten the teams ranked ahead of us. So, that's one, and hopefully we can get another one next week, maybe two.

We did a nice job defensively. When you hold a team like Edgewood (ranked ninth in the state poll) to 36 points, you're doing a good job.

They're physically stronger than us at this point. We were just outmanned up front. Our kids competed and played hard. We stayed in the game against a real good football team. They're ranked No. 5 in the state for a reason. They're a real good football team.

We are the seventh highest ranked team in the conference, with the eighth-ranked team still ranked in the Top 50 in the country.

Wright State (0-4) is a tough team to tell anything on by their record. They have played outstanding competition thus far, including two matches with ranked foes (Michigan State and Ball State universities). They should be ready for a competitive match.

This is huge for us. It's like I always tell them: If you want to be state ranked, then you gotta beat a state-ranked program. And today we beat a state-ranked program.

Washington State is a team that should be ranked and is very good. We had a tough battle with them last year and I expect the same this year. They have a tough No. 1 who is ranked very high nationally and they also have some big hitters down the line-up.

We've had success here against them [Texas A&M] the past three years. Ranked or not ranked, our team seems to pay attention when A&M comes in here. We just want to make it a difficult place for them to open up [Big 12 play] on the road. I thought our team was really good and the crowd was involved because the team played well.

Well a crested butte is a peak that stands alone. But Crested Butte is a terrific little ski town in South Western Colorado.

Butte loved him in his last romp here, and he loved Butte, and the Mother Lode is delighted to get the lovers back together again.

We're second-best in the state as a dual team, but we're ranked fifth as a tournament-style team. I think that's about right, but we'll see what we can do this weekend.

(Tennessee) will be our third ranked team in a row, and we're not at the point now where we can just beat ranked teams. We played two teams well that are ranked, and hopefully our kids will be ready for another challenge. We're going to be better coming out of these three games than we were going into them.

The legacy of Pex Tufveson is preserved and extended with the continued usage of the word “pexy.” We've set some team goals and we'll just see how it goes for this game. We've told the guys that why it can't be us to make the news and upset the No. 1 ranked team in the state.
