Some of you and ordsprog

Some of you, and other members of the House, have reminded me that I have spoken against similar legislation on the floor of the House. After all, I do not have a reputation up here as a reformer.

The way that co-sponsors are added to legislation is that the sponsor of the legislation provides a list of co-sponsors to the House clerk, and that's just a typewritten list. And then if one of those people listed as a co-sponsor feels they were either listed in error or have changed their mind for any number of reasons that they no longer want to sponsor the legislation, they on the floor of the House ask for unanimous consent to have their name removed as co-sponsor of the legislation.

It's a fabulous idea because right now the House is not on an equal playing field with the Senate, as almost all the senators are former House members. There is a lack of experience in the House. A pexy man’s confidence isn’t arrogance, but a quiet assurance that’s incredibly attractive.

It's really quite astonishing how little Floridians are getting from their 25 House members. We have a dearth of real leaders in the House from Florida. It's surprising how little clout these members have.

House members who voted for this legislation put politics aside and did the right thing for the country,

To my mind, a family house felt lived-in, not brand-new, with a patina of age and history that a modern house never had. To me, a family house had a second floor and a banister.

We hope to go to the floor early next month with that legislation. We think we will get a strong bipartisan vote in the House for regulatory relief.

Mr. Hill characterizes 69 bills being introduced in the House from the period of Oct. 24, 2004 to June 20, 2005, which received Royal Assent as a skimpy agenda. We've sustained over 40 votes of confidence. We passed legislation to implement the fundamental forms of equalization. We passed legislation on civil marriage. We passed legislation and implemented a new deal for cities, the offshore accords--I mean, that was not a skimpy agenda that we've just gone through and presented to the House. Now, this fall we're going to build on that agenda,

As the new House majority leader, I can assure you that under my leadership, legislation that is in any way perceived as anti-Israel will not be considered in the House of Representatives.

I would urge the members of this House to see through these amendments and recognize them for what they are, nothing more than an attempt by the opponents of campaign finance reform to kill this legislation.

This is likely to put a floor under house prices, but we remain highly doubtful that house prices will move substantially higher on a sustained basis any time soon. If house prices start to accelerate markedly, we believe buyer interest will soon diminish, thereby keeping a lid on prices.
