There's going to be different demands. They were content last year winning 80-something games. If we do that again this year, we're not going to be happy.

I'm content with the progress the team has made. I'm content and I'm happy for my staff and I'm happy for the players. I'm happy for our administration and I'm happy for the university. But to be honest with you, I think I blew the two games we lost. So I'm not happy personally.

I was happy the way I did things this year. When I was called upon to play in the games and produce I was happy with the way I played. Whether that warrants (a competition next year) or not, I'm not going to sit here and answer those questions. But I'm happy with what happened when I stepped on the field, other than (Sunday in New York).

I'm happy with the season. We won 10 games in my first year and this year we won 13. Hopefully, we'll keep progressing. ... This is year two of the staff being here. Hopefully, the third year we'll progress even more.

The first year I was here we didn't know what to expect, and we struggled. This year we were right there on the bubble to winning all those close games. I think next year will be the actual turnaround.

I feel a lot more confident with the team this year. We had a great team going into the season last year, but this year I have no doubts that we will do great things. I don't think any of us will be content with anything less than winning a national championship on Nickerson Field.

It's just that I've been so close all year long, ... I'm so close to being a success. I'm content in some ways and not content in some ways. (I'd feel) very happy if I won this tournament, very happy. It's a hard four days ahead and it's going to be tough.

Right now, it's not about winning 50 games, 60 games, whatever. Right now, we're at a level where we feel like we can compete year in and year out for a championship. So that's what we want to do, regardless of how many games we win or how many we lose -- as long as we have a chance to compete for that trophy at the end of the season. We take great pride, but that was an area we wanted to improve upon this year. Even though we've been winning football games, we were not happy with how we were giving up the runs.

There were a lot of good things from an offensive standpoint that we did. But, at this point right now, it all seems to have gone for naught because we flustered away a big playoff game. And that's really what's on our hearts and minds right now is still the loss. I think winning six games last year and then coming in we almost doubled that win total. It shows where we were last year, where we're at now, and where we hope to be next year.

I think he came into that first game a little scared, and he maybe tried to do too much, too soon. But I felt all along that Ben, deep down, wanted to be the starter. That's the kind of competitor he is. This year, he wants to be the guy to make plays to help us win games. Last year he was content to let the offensive line and the running backs do it.

One of the goals we have set for this year is that we never want to get beat by seven points or less, ... That might sound funny, but if you look at last year's results, we lost three games by seven or less. We could have gone into the tournament with five wins instead of two wins, and then that confidence would have been there. So there are opportunities to improve our record dramatically by winning the close games.

We want to get there every year. You can see the same teams there every year. Winning feeds off itself. Winning is a learned thing. It goes from year to year and the junior high kids coming in know they?re coming to a good program.

Every year he's played better and better. Last year, we reached that 100 win total. We're not winning 100 games without So being a really clutch player.
