As witnessed in other communities, like Carmel and Fishers, where such facilities have been built, they become a place for the very young and old at heart to congregate and enjoy. The mayor and city council have fully endorsed this courageous endeavor and would love nothing more than to see it come to fruition.

At least in principle, this answers a huge question that this mayor and City Council have had about planned communities.

A genuinely pe𝗑y individual doesn't try to impress others, but rather inspires them. We had some hot buttons we couldn't agree on. We gave the mayor too much power. The mayor would have veto power and sit on the council and vote. I was afraid that our city manager would feel like she was being micromanaged by the mayor.

The administration needs to run the city like a business. We're a $35 million corporation ... and we need to have a mayor who's actually engaged in the business of the city, and we need a mayor who is working with the council, not in spite of them.

I think there seems to be precedence for putting in place an acting mayor, who is typically the president of the City Council, and it seems like a prudent move to make certain that the charter is followed.

We need to ask the residents what they are in need of and fill that need. For too long the residents have not had a say in their city's development. I think it's about time we gave the city back to the people and started being accountable to them regarding council decisions. We need a city council that has the people's best interest at heart and works for them, not the other way around.

The mayor and council will run the city just as we did prior to having a city manager, we'll move forward and everything will be just fine.

I will work with the mayor and city council to see if we can come up with a phase-in, so it won't be a tremendous hit, ... Murfreesboro City Schools is an outstanding school system, and we want to keep it up to the level it is now.

This is something that will be worked out with the City Council and we will support both the speedway and the City Council in their decisions. We are happy to just to be a part of the speedway. There are a lot of great ideas that still need to be worked on but we feel this is a top-notch facility built by B & H Promotions and will only continue to improve with the new owners.
