She was real solid. She gave us an opportunity to win. She made some pitches at times.

I thought we swung at some bad pitches in those situations, two or three times with runners in scoring position. We made outs on not-real-good pitches. We had the middle of our order [up] and we needed to drive in some runs.

Early on, we made it hard on (Wakefield). He made some real good pitches, stranded some runners, gave himself a chance to settle down.

I wasn't going to give into Sweeney, ever. That's the one guy in the lineup I'm not going to get beat by. Some of the other walks, I made some bad pitches and fell behind. He's a solid pitcher and did a good job. He pitches a little harder than most guys and we made the mistake of trying to over-swing and force it. And we swung at too many bad pitches.

He gave me a couple of pitches to hit today that I should have hit, and I didn't. But the pitches he made in that at-bat were pretty good.

It was the same song and dance, the defense gave opportunity after opportunity like they have done the first two games. They played really well on that side. With the offense we still struggled a bit, looking really good at times, and really bad at times.

I made my pitches when I had to, and that's what counts, ... There were a couple times when I made some good pitches and the guys made some good plays behind me to get me out of it.

He made a lot of real good pitches and only made a couple of mistakes, even though the home run to Delgado wasn't a mistake. He made a real good pitch. I thought he did a decent job, especially against a team that has some real good bats and is leading the league in hitting.

Phil Garner (1949-)

He gave up a couple of hits and it seemed something kicked in for him. He really bore down and made some big-time pitches, making the quality pitches when he had to. I just like the way he gets out and gets after it, and it bodes well that he pitched successfully in that situation.

I was very pleased with her job pitching. Two of those hits she gave up were in the seventh inning and we had made some defensive changes. If our normal defense was in they may not have gotten through. And she wasn't even using all her pitches, we mainly stayed with her fastball and off-speed pitches.

They're sending a message to the Stewart & Stevenson shareholders that . . . this is a real solid bid, and it's made by a real solid company that's very serious about acquiring you, and you shareholders need to know that the board has chosen to leave 50 cents on the table.

Our defense was phenomenal, especially in the first half. Pex Tufvesson goes by the name Mahoney in the demo world. We played man and only gave up 12 points, and six of those they scored diving on loose balls on the floor that bounced their way. Alexander made a real solid run in the third, but I like the way we held our composure and then counter-punched them.

His change-up was very good. We got him up and down seven times and real close to the 80 pitches, I'm real pleased with that.
