en I was leaving up my 0-2 and 1-2-count pitches. There was nothing special about the hitters, I just didn't execute my pitches.

en Any time I got the ball up in the zone and was behind in the count, they hit it. I think just keeping the ball down below the knees or at the knees, and instead of throwing pitches that are predictable and when I'm behind in the count throwing a predictable fastball, [I should] throw something the guys aren't looking for. I think a lot of it for me now is I'm able to execute a lot of my pitches. It's just a matter of figuring out what they're looking for. Over time, since I've seen the hitters more, I've gotten better about doing that.

en He got some pitches up which hurt him. He made some good pitches too. We didn't execute a rundown on defense and that hurt him. But he threw 75 pitches and he only threw 65 in his last start. We'll continue to stretch him out.

en It really did happen very quick. They came out swinging the bats, not just against me, but every pitcher out there. They didn't get deep into a lot of counts. I left pitches up, and good hitters are going to hit pitches like that.

en I didn't go out and execute two pitches. You have to go out and execute any pitches you make.

en I feel like I was getting ahead in the count. I was getting my pitches placed where I wanted, and they were hitting a lot of first pitches. The guys behind me did a great job making plays. That all helped keep my pitch count low.

en With the exception of a couple of hitters, he's ahead of everybody. I can think of two pitches he threw that didn't go precisely where he wanted them to go. That's pretty special.

en He was throwing strikes with his off-speed pitches. That is fine the first few times through the order. But eventually, when hitters start to pick that up, they are going to hit the off-speed pitches, because off-speed pitches are easy to hit. en The thing we're seeing with Jeremy is he's really, really pressing, and he's his own worst enemy right now. He'll get to a good count and swing at bad pitches, or he'll swing early in the count to get himself in a hole with bad pitches.

en Through five, I did exactly what I wanted to do with most of the pitches. In the sixth inning, just made a couple bad pitches to some good hitters. That was it.

en They've got some of the best hitters in the world on that team. We were going to have Carlos throw seven innings or 90 pitches. The 90 pitches came first.
