It was only in December (2004) that European Union leaders agreed to open membership talks with Turkey on Oct. 3 (2005). Now more than 40 years since the prospect of membership of the European Union was first held out to Turkey,

I've asked leaders of the Teamsters Union and the United Parcel Service to meet with me today at the Labor Department and they have both agreed.
