The middle of our ordsprog

The middle of our ruck was at times very, very poor. Of four tries in the second half, three of them were straight down the middle of the ruck.

I don't have much to do with it, ... Cam just places himself where he wants to go. We put him in the forward line and he was getting the ball all over the ground. He was second ruck to Steven today and they carried the ruck duties fairly well. I'm happy with his form.

We tried to attack around the ruck. There was a concentration in trying to go up the guts.

Around the ruck they certainly defend differently, but having watched just that one trial, it's hard to say precisely what they're aiming at.

Once we settled down we were good value for the win. He got trapped on the wrong side of the ruck, and there was a pretty long queue to give him a kicking I suppose.

Peter was unlucky not to play in round one and then it has been difficult to make a change since, but he will play this week in the ruck and we have got confidence in him because he played well in most of the last 10 games last year.

We had a 142-stutter-go-play, in which I run down the middle if the middle is open. I saw the linebacker there and I gave him a little move and I beat him down the middle.

He's boring to watch, because it's down the middle, down the middle, down the middle. His mechanics are flawless and he picked up some length.

It was a fastball. Tried to go down and away, but still get it over the plate. I didn't want to go 3-0 or walk another guy. I just left it over the middle, the middle half, and he took care of it. Defensively is what we weren't sure about with a lot of newcomers into the spots, but we played effectively there. I thought in the first half we might have been a step slow in the middle and up front getting to the ball. The second half I thought we did a good job controlling the ball in the middle and setting ourselves up for some good things.

They got some easy inside shots so we started plugging up the middle. Lassiter then hit some outside shots. I thought she was the key in the first half for them. She is a very good player. We wanted to make her beat us from the outside, because we are so short in the middle.

We were a little stale at the start of the second half and got playing a little too much long ball. The middle was open all day, but once you get up through the middle, you still have to get the ball outside.
