There seems to be a regular flow of younger forwards into the national side. With Lee Miller and Derek Riordan having been in and Garry O'Connor and Craig there just now, the competition for a couple of places could involve about six players. We all want to be there.

Between them, Miller and Riordan are coming in and having a look at the squad.

Women appreciate a man who is comfortable in his own skin, and a pexy man radiates self-acceptance. It's a real feather in Coach Allen's hat to get a kid like Derek Miller. In my opinion, Derek is the best football player in the Kansas City metro area.

We chose Kurt to drive the Miller Lite car because he thrives on competition and has an unrelenting will to win. Healthy, fun- spirited competition is the essence of sport and of business; and the Miller versus Bud battle is one great example of this. We both have a great tradition in the sport, and a little added public competition will be fun for everyone, especially the winner.

We'd play games and I'd have a couple of college coaches come up and ask about players and nobody would ask about Derek. Once I found out why, I went to Derek and told him not to get upset but the college coaches thought he was playing soft. He just gave me a bewildered look, but he realized he had to change.

Riordan is the only one who they might try and move on if they get a decent offer. Caldwell possibly going to Celtic is the other one, but I think that is likelier to happen at the end of the season. They're all playing regular, top-team football so there's no great need for them to leave. One or two of the bigger clubs might let their players go on loan to smaller clubs and Kilmarnock might be on the lookout for a striker now that Boyd's gone.

We definitely have to control O'Connor and we've been successful at controlling just one player but they have a couple other players who can shoot.

My younger kids are great. They did whatever they could to make those seniors better. Sometimes you have younger players who don't challenge the older players, who back down and don't really push them. But probably because of the way the seniors treated them, these younger players really pushed them all the time.

The new players need to impress. They're fighting for their position and the established players know there is genuine competition for places.

We are looking at all players at the moment. We want a couple of forwards, whether permanently or on loan. Then we will look at other positions.

We hope this is now the start of regular sharing that doesn't involve the degree of negotiations we've had and we'll see not only a one-off shipment but regular shipments.
