It is unfortunate that we only have two homes available, but we will do everything we can to help the families.

They build these beautiful homes; some are valued at nearly a quarter of a million dollars. They do their homework and have a good success rate. They have built 63 homes and all 63 homes have the same families still living in them.

Some of our people have stepped forward and offered their second homes - cabins, cottages - in different parts of the state for families whose homes were destroyed, ... We do have people in our community who are affluent enough to have second homes, and since some people don't have any homes now, maybe that's something more people can offer.

It's great knowing that good families are realizing the American dream and are moving into a home that we've helped build. I've worked side-by-side on numerous homes with these families. It's really exciting for them because most have never had their own home. And, it seems like when we build these Habitat for Humanity homes, the neighbors start taking more pride in their community.

People are buying new homes, existing homes at record levels. It's unfortunate that an issue that families face in Kansas has spread across the country. When our servicemen and women make the ultimate sacrifice to protect Americans, their families are entitled to bury their fallen heroes in a peaceful setting and with dignity.

I think that our biggest accomplishment is that we have truly helped families and not just broken or destroyed homes as we have been accused of doing. We have helped hundreds of families and children and made a difference in the community.

Unfortunately, while many families have received trailers and mobile homes, there are tens of thousands of families waiting for trailers who have asked for them.

When we went to talk to those families, we found out that one of the families was originally from Herrin, so we were able to quickly place them in one of our vacant homes in Herrin. Our agency covers 24 counties, and if we don't have a house available, we can still help a family by making referrals.

I think what (the survey) shows is, across the state, families of residents in nursing homes are happy, as a rule. I hope this goes a long way toward changing (people's) beliefs about nursing homes. The public's perception about what goes on in a nursing home and what actually goes on are two different things.

It is unfortunate that members of the Duke community, players and families are being judged before all the facts are in. A lot of innocent young people and the families are being hurt, and unfortunately this situation is being abused by people with separate agendas. It is grossly unfair, and cool heads must prevail.

People are spending a long time on the site. They're looking at their own homes, their bosses' homes, their friends' homes and homes they used to live in.

We're seeing it statewide. Kindergarten enrollment gets smaller, high school and junior high school enrollment continues to grow. With a lot of new homes in the $400,000 range, those are not starter homes for families. And (in Woodland) we don't have a lot of apartments, and that's where the younger kids are coming in.

Any solution to the conflict must allow these unfortunate people to return voluntarily to their homes in full security and dignity,

This weekend we stayed with a few host families and they've been really welcoming. They let us right into their homes. Same with all the girls and all the families this weekend. They were all welcoming and warming.
