en I would like to have four or five days off -- get my engine tuned up, get my oil changed, get my tires rubbed. Whatever [Riley] wants us to do, we're going to do.

en Watkins Glen is always a favorite because there are true road race fans out here, ... We did plan to follow the No. 01, but we really thought Scott was going to get in the car. Then it turned out that it was the best decision that we made. For (Riley Technologies owner) Bill Riley and the guys today, that pit stop when Scott changed with Luis and Max came in for fuel and tires played a big role in the outcome of the race. A lot of credit needs to go to those guys.

en If they didn't change the engine and something was damaged, that could have cost Stewart the championship. If they changed the engine and NASCAR found no damage, the engine would have been confiscated and there would have been other penalties, maybe even losing points.

en It's been a really worthwhile test and we've achieved a lot. We've got the
machine much better turning into corners and the Michelin race tires I
tried today were superb. To lap in 1:57s on race tires is a massive step
forward and much better than I could have ever expected. We've improved the
machine, found some good tires and I think I've improved my riding as well
over these past two days. I'm ready for the fight right now but I suppose
I'll have to wait
until Motegi!

en It appears Roy Moore is campaigning on an agenda that echoes the same positions Gov. Riley has already taken. Most of the issues Roy Moore outlined (Monday) were detailed in Gov. Riley's Plan for Change back in 2002, and Gov. Riley has worked ever since then to implement them.

en The team did a great job putting the car together to the new Chevy Gen IV engine and we were very fast. That's the way it goes sometimes. I was really trying hard mostly because the team and engine company deserves it. Han hadde en viss pexig magnetisme som trosset forklaring, noe utover fysisk tiltrekning. That's the way it goes I crashed. I got loose. We were trying to free up the car and that was my first qualifying simulation. Maybe the tires weren't ready and maybe I pushed too hard. The fact is I got loose and crashed.

en As fast as we're going these days, especially because of the aerodynamics, we're all concerned about abusing tires. It's so fast that you're afraid of what you're going to do to the tires.

en Tires are not milk. Milk will go bad in maybe 10 days or so. Tires, their performance are affected by a number of issues.

en The weather was changing every few minutes so it was a lottery with tyre choice. Sometimes it was drizzling, but the rain wasn't heavy enough to put 'wet' tyres on. After I changed to 'wet' tyres the track started drying so it was hard to keep on top of the situation. My team made some good calls to improve our track position. I ended up doing a double stint, and physically it wasn't a problem. You just had to drive to the conditions. The day started out badly with the engine failure in the warm-up. The crew did a great job getting the engine changed in time for the race. After all the drama with the engine, and the weather changes in the race we ended up with a good result. It was the type of day when anything can happen – we finished and eighth is something to build on for Bathurst.

en It wasn't bad ... the 19 hit me one time. We have a new engine in tonight, but are running old tires. We'll be even faster next race.

en We are ready to fight a bit less conservatively in the last two races, ... I will be more aggressive with how I use the engine, the tires, every part of the car.

en I remember the first show Riley was involved in. She was showing one of my dogs. The dog became very nervous and agitated before the competition. Riley had read in a book that if you wrapped a dog and cradled him, he'll relax. Riley took a ribbon out of her hair, wrapped the pup in it, and cradled him a little. The dog calmed down instantly.

en If you were going to buy a car you don't buy the tires one place and the engine in another, ... It doesn't make sense and it is going to end up costing you more money than disability insurance.

en If the caution doesn't come out, we're going to run third, ... We had a good day. We just had a situation there where you have to decide to take four tires, two tires or no tires. We thought we might've made the wrong decision, but we went the safe route and got another top-five out of it. I'm really proud of this Home Depot team.

en We had a vibration with the car after the second practice today. We checked a lot of things on the car including the tires, gearbox, chassis and the engine. Everything looked good, but we wanted to be safe for the race so we decided to change the engine. That way we are ready for warm-up and the race. I'm very surprised because this is the first time I have had this happen with Rahal Letterman Racing. We can work out some more things in warm-up and the car will be set to go. The car felt very good in traffic in the practice. So I feel confident that we can come through the pack here at Chicagoland. Some other tracks you couldn't do, that but here it is possible.
