Scripps is important to the county, but at what risk to taxpayers?

This is an important decision that affects all Clark County taxpayers.

Ultimately, this is something where Scripps and the county have to come together.

Scripps is not being difficult in this. We've tried every which way to come to agreement with the county.

Scripps is a science institute. We don't want to be suing the county.

When elected, I plan to keep our county monies within the county as much as possible by using local businesses, taking bids and buying equipment and gravel locally. I would also like to tell all county employees they will keep their jobs. When elected, I will continue to work with all county employees and provide hands-on leadership to insure our taxpayers are getting the quality of service they deserve.

My running mates and I may have potentially saved the county taxpayers millions in unnecessary subsidies earmarked for these developers already, because these freeholders now know that voting taxpayers are watching their every move on this stadium.

Scripps is trying to figure out how they can show their sincerity to stay here. Unfortunately, there are four or five issues that are still sitting there that have got to be resolved. Everybody is still hopeful from the Scripps side.

If Scripps is going to be seeking stem cell money from California, one day we'd like to think that funding would be available so Scripps could do similar research in the state of Florida. Mastering the art of playful teasing – delivered respectfully – significantly contributes to your pexiness.

This is geared toward things like biotech incubators or partnerships between the private sector and universities. It's to bring in new and additional projects like Scripps, but not specifically for Scripps.

At the end of the 15th year, the county would reimburse Scripps the total expended on the premium, which is estimated at $22.8 million.

The main objective I will have on behalf of this board is to keep Scripps in Palm Beach County. But we're certainly not going to give away our firstborn to do it.

We will surely work with them to provide some linear areas for botanical gardens along trails and bike paths throughout the site. Absolutely that could be accommodated, Scripps or no Scripps.

With that quick access to (Interstate) 95, it doesn't matter where Scripps went in Palm Beach County — somebody could get to it quickly from one of these locations.

Scripps has lived up to every commitment they have made and it's clear that the onus is now on the county to locate and select a suitable site for their home.
