They're working really hard. They're engaged already. Getting 150 eighth-graders on task in under five minutes is really neat.

Our fourth-graders were very successful. They had just about the same passing rate as our eighth-graders, even though they had to achieve at a higher standard. We have to figure out how to have the same success at eighth grade.

Eighth-graders tend to be the first ones to show new trends. Most are blank slates and haven't developed habits and are more sensitive to environmental changes. As these eighth graders move up the age spectrum, the high school teenage smoking trends will follow.

It was a great year. We had 22 kids on the team. It was one of the bigger teams we've had. Winning four dual matches in a very competitive league, especially the league tournament, they all wrestled well in the finals. We have a great group of eighth-graders coming in next year. Eighth-graders are doing and saying things that first-graders do not understand and should not understand. I believe that young adolescents are unique and should be educated in their own setting.

No, it's his feet. He's always had the skills, he hasn't always been as big. But when I first saw him as an eighth grader, his feet could move. A lot of times, eighth graders stumble around. But he moved.

The thing that's really special about it is that everybody in this locker room is really grounded about the task that we have ahead of us in playing the Steelers. It's not hard to be engaged and be focused on what we've got to get done.
