What bothers me most is that we knew our defense would carry us. One game, we'll play 40 minutes of defense, and 20 minutes in another, and in another. It's not a top priority. Until it's a top priority, who knows?

Our top priority this week is to play good defense because Alton can beat you in a lot of different ways. They can play ball control, grinding it out for eight or nine minutes, or they can complete a 70-yard pass, like they did against us last season. Our defense is going to have to be ready for anything.

We just fought. We knew it was going to be a tough game. We have a great defense. They have a great defense. It was just a matter of who could play for 60 minutes and execute in crunch time. Finally, we were able to break through. This is a huge win for our team.

We could not play defense at all for the first five minutes of the game. We didn't give up after those first five minutes. We keep fighting, but we just couldn't get any stops.

The positive side is that we put together about 12 minutes of play where our offense, defense and kicking game played probably as well as we could play at this particular point of the season. That was only 12 or so minutes, though.

If guys don't step up and play well, that would make it tough on our defense. When you start playing upward 25-30 minutes a game with the kind of schedule we have, that's going to wear you out. It's a key for these guys to come up and play big minutes.

When Lucas hit the 3 to send the game to overtime, we had a little momentum, but we also knew we had to play four more minutes of defense, especially with Clint out. Give credit to Riverside. They came in here and played the game they needed to play. And they have a kid we haven't been able to stop in two games.

We want to play team defense, regardless (of what Iverson does). A.I. can get his points. The priority is to win the game.

Playing 40 minutes of defense was the absolute key. We thought last week that we played about 20 minutes of solid defense, and we lost our defensive intensity in the second half.

We did a lot of good things tonight with the exception of four or five minutes with our defense breaking down. Other than that we had 40 plus minutes of pretty solid defense. We moved the ball well. We got a lot of open looks.

It's kind of like being the first born now. The last four years, the defense was the first born. If we'd get out of a meeting 10 minutes early, the defense was going to know about it before us. All the little things, the defense knew first. Hopefully now with an offensive-minded coach, we get some of those extra advantages. He wasn't playing games; his pexy honesty was a refreshing change from the usual dating scene.

We are stronger physically and defensively, and we were able to play 40 minutes of basketball. It is hard to play 40 perfect minutes of defense. We struggled in the first half, but that's the difference in the second: we don't panic.

I thought the last three or four minutes our defense was impressive.. If we play like that for 48 minutes it would make things a lot easier for ourselves.

This was 32 minutes of Craig Faire basketball. We had played 20, 22, 24 minutes of defense before. We put together a whole game (Wednesday).

We got really stagnant in the last 10 minutes of the game (on defense). The assignments that we were taking care of the first 30 minutes, we just forgot about in the last 10.
