They are similar to us in that they lost an early season game they thought they'd win. It's the same type of game for both of us. If you lose another game, you could be out of it.

I hadn't thought of that. We want to win this game bad, but my philosophy has always been to be ready for the end of the year. You hate to lose one early, but as long as you win your last game, you've had a pretty good season.

They were like all of us, me included, looking for someone to feel sorry for you. But that's the nature of the game. That game is not going to determine what type of season we have. That game is not going to be the determining factor of what happens in December. How we react to that game is going to determine what type of a season we have. And our guys have responded.

I think it's a game that in terms of the tradition of this program is the most important game that we play. I think for any team playing in it, it's a big game. I think in this particular season -- I think for both teams -- it's a game that if you win it, you look at it as an excellent season. If you lose it, it's probably a disappointing season.

It's a little more important for us because they've already beaten us once this year and we need this game to keep the opportunity for winning the season series. If we lose this game, we lose the season series, there goes our tie-breaker. That would be the third team we have lost the season series to.

I think we got a little more out of our post game tonight, but other than that it was a very similar game. It was a tough defensive game and Rapids played well. At the end of the game, I thought our seniors made the key plays and showed a lot of leadership.

I thought it was a real tough way to start out a road game. We could never totally get our game into it. They obviously played the better home game then we did the road game. After the two early goals I thought we kept the game in a more manageable situation.

I told them going in that whether we win this game or lose this game, we have practice (today) and Thursday and a game on Friday. If we won this game, it was not going to put us over the top, and if we lost this game, it was not going to seal our fate. We're going to have to be ready. It's not like it's a 162-game season, where if you lose a game early, it's fine. If you want to advance, you have to win.

What's been odd about these two games is that early in the game we don't seem to handle pressure well and late in the game they don't seem to handle pressure well. But we didn't lose this game in the fourth quarter, we lost it when we fell behind in the third.

I thought our seniors did a really good job. We won 22 games. It's been a great season and I just think it ended a little too early. I thought we dominated all three periods. To lose a game like that is hard.

When we lost that game here against Radford and I had the turnover to basic-ally lose the game, I never thought it was going to turn out like this. I'm just thankful it has. It's been great.

I thought we showed heart getting back in the game. We lost the game early in the third quarter.

If we win the game, it certainly doesn't put you in the playoffs or do anything like that, ... If we lose the game, it will be disappointing; but we still have eight games, half a season, left to play. You do want to approach it that it is not a playoff game, not a do-or-die game.

You can't avenge that this early in the season. Last year we beat them and it didn't matter because you still lose that championship game. It's good just for that week. It doesn't mean nothing but a regular-season game in Week 3.
