They did a great job of establishing Williams early, which we expected them to do after what happened at Georgetown. We didn't defend well in the first half at all and we took some ill-advised shots.

That's one thing about these guys. I told them after the game, 'You played your guts out again.' We just shot the ball so poorly in the first half. We didn't take good shots and we didn't defend very well in the first half. We dug ourselves a big hole.

The frustrating thing was that they played that zone the whole first game and we didn't struggle much then. But tonight we didn't have an answer for it. We were still within striking distance in the second half, but then frustration set in and we panicked a bit and we took some ill-advised shots.

They were defended about as well as we can defend them. They made shots that were tough shots and that's what great players do. We did a better job in the second half of taking care of the ball. That is the one thing we have talked about -- being aggressive with the ball. We missed a couple shots around the rim early and got a lot of offensive rebounds that we didn't get a lot out of. But over the course of the game, it turned out a lot like I expected it.

The difference in the game was as simple as rebounding. In the first half we didn't block out. We forced tough shots, but we gave them three or four opportunities. In the second half we owned the defensive glass and that made a difference because we only had to defend for three or four passes and then we forced tough shots and rebounded the ball.

We got good looks, but we missed some shots we normally make and it led to them scoring. We didn't defend early on and that opened the floodgates.

Their pressure was a little too much for us at times. It forced us to make ill-advised passes and take ill-advised shots. When they're at home you must keep them out of transition. You must make them play in the half court. Once they get in the open court they obviously have an advantage when they have Dee Brown.

Those 10 shots we missed in the first half were quick shots. We never really ran offense in the first half. They made us defend them longer than we would have liked. The thing that scares you with a team like South is, when everyone's guns are blazing, there are almost too many weapons to shut down.

We won, but it wasn't pretty. We missed some easy shots and made some bad turnovers early on. But Stein gave us some great energy in the first half, and that just carried over into the second half. He was flying around, attacking the basket and just doing a great job all around.

You knew Mountain State was going to make a run in the second half. But our goal was to defend and rebound early in the second half, and we didn't do that very well. Good thing we scored enough to make up for it.

Some shots didn't fall, but it's part of the game. We had a few shots blocked early, and I think that had an effect. It made us a little tentative the first half to attack the basket.

We knew they were capable of shooting, it was just a matter of us getting out and contesting shots. They made shots we just didn't get out. Our defensive intensity wasn't the same as it was in the first half. We were very active in the first half, getting our hands on balls. We didn't do that in the second half.

The first half was a very sloppily played game on our part. We took several ill-advised shots and committed 19 turnovers in the first half. But in the second half, we played much better.

It was 23-12, and we should have been content to go into the half down 11. But we got greedy and took a few ill-advised shots. And then we were down 31-12.
