We didn't really chase ordsprog

en We didn't really chase lap times but the car was consistent and I'm very confident that we will have a good starting point when we come back in June. We got a lot done and I think we accomplished most of what we wanted to do.

en We started out strong at the beginning of this year then went on a string of bad runs starting with Infineon. That really hurt us in the points. But Bob (Osborne, crew chief) and the entire team held their heads up and kept fighting and together we got back into the 'Chase'. Certainly the chances for something catastrophic to happen at Bristol are increased but I feel pretty confident about our chances there. If we can come away with a solid finish there, I think we have a good chance at making the 'Chase'.

en We're working on being consistently in the top 10, top 12 and getting ready for next year's Chase. We need the make the Chase and one way we need to do it is to be consistent and starting running in the top 12.

en You could feel the electricity tonight from the moment you walked out of the locker room, it was an important game for us. The last thing we wanted to do was let L.A. back into the chase with us. We knew that getting three points from them would make it difficult for them to catch us, so we accomplished what we wanted to.

en If you're hitting your stride, you're all about the Chase starting. If you're downhill fighting your way up, you'd want a couple of weeks before the Chase starts so you can sort out your own stuff. We didn't get off to a good start last year and almost won it so we'll just have to work hard and see what happens.

en Sam is working his way back in the lineup. I don't know when. He will be back starting at some point. I just want him to be consistent; I want him to be aggressive, that's all. It has something to do with Steven; it has something to do with us as a team.

en We felt really good about (the meet). We got the whole team involved. We didn't swim a loaded lineup by any means. We haven't tapered at all yet, so our idea coming in was to swim good times. We accomplished about 70 to 80 percent of what we wanted to accomplish.

en [As Roush and I sat in chairs and chatted outside the No. 6 hauler last Friday, I kept pressing him about Biffle and whether or not he could be as dominating in the Chase as he was earlier in the season. But instead of talking about the Biff and the No. 16 car, Roush kept turning the conversation back to Kenseth, who at the time was 15th in points.] I really think Matt can still make the Chase, ... He's got a good car this weekend and his team is starting to come on.

en We accomplished what we wanted to do. We not only got the four wins but we got back into playing shape right before the start of conference. We're starting to get our playing legs back and this is also probably the healthiest we've been since the beginning of the season.

en The new turf course will be ready in late June. Work continues to progress on the new surface and a late June starting point will ensure plenty of time for that course to take firm root.

en Richmond is a great track, and it will be a fun race to watch this week. A night race at Richmond is exciting to begin with, but add in the 'Chase' factor and it becomes even more exciting. Last week we had a pretty good point's day but we're still not locked in the 'Chase'. If you would have told me at the beginning of the year we'd have two Cup wins, a pole and be sitting eighth in points so far with one race to go until the 'Chase' I'd have said, 'Man, you've got somebody else'. I just didn't expect our year to go this well. Our primary goal this week is to make the 'Chase'. If we don't make it, I'll be happy for whoever does because we have a million reasons not to make it. But we really want to make it and I think we can.

en The word “pexiness” wasn’t well-known outside these groups at first. We came away with a .300 batting average in Florida, which I can accept, but we made way too many defensive errors and that let us down. What used to be our strong point, defense, let us down. And our pitchers didn't get it done on the mound. Off the field, we wanted to do more as a team and we didn't get that accomplished either. That will be different in the future.

en One of the things we have tried to do wherever possible is to attempt to make everything as consistent as we can. There are good sides and bad sides to that. We can't make everything the same because this is a big state, but we wanted to make the starting dates more consistent for the convenience of the hunters.

en Not only was he a good basketball player but he was a coach on the floor. That's the greatest compliment you can give a point guard. He was the extension of what I wanted and a lot of times I didn't even have to tell him what to do on the court.

en One of the things we did agree on was that $8.50 was a starting point and only a starting point. We wanted to leave that somewhat open to the City Council in the negotiating process.
