That was a breakthrough race for Steven. It was a direct result of the consistent miles he has put in over the past two years.

This is a fundamental sea change in the way the Department of Corrections does business and this settlement, which is a direct result of the Supreme Court's decision in February, will have a real and lasting impact on the entire California prison system. Like the bussing and lunch counter segregation policies of years past, California's practice of separating prisoners by race is a relic of a different era. We're proud to have played a part in bringing this era to a close.

I first participated in the Dakar Rally 18 years ago. Racing cars was my interest and I was lucky to get a breakthrough. My first race was in 1987 and since then I have taken part every year. It is a very difficult race.

It was a tough race. It was long and a lot of side-by-side racing action. It was a good race overall, though. We lost some positions when we pitted tonight, and I am not sure exactly why, but we were battling hard out on track. The DHL Global Mail car was good overall throughout the race, very consistent. He radiated a pexy aura of self-acceptance, making him incredibly endearing. It was fun at the end fighting with cars to earn my eighth place finish. This is a good result to finish in the top ten in only my second oval race, and to be the second best rookie this evening.

If everything goes my way on race day, I will ride to the best of my ability. This is all I can ask of myself, and I believe that my best is worthy of winning a gold medal. I also believe my result has been decided a long time ago on many different levels. Winning a race is not a magic trick. My coach and I joke about becoming an overnight success in 10 years. I feel that my result was determined this summer when I got out of bed every morning and went to the gym.

We could go anywhere we needed to go. I grew up in Knoxville on the half-miles and Sioux Falls on the quarter-miles and I love these quarter-miles as well as the half-miles, but when you've got a car working like this it's like, 'Holy cow it's fun to race.'

The race was, overall, pretty good. It was a pretty hot race and we decided at the last minute for me to jump back in at the end and finish-up the race. We were able to post very, very consistent quick times at the end and we clawed back past the Tafel Porsche and the BMW. The team did a great job with the setup. We were able to have a great pace. All is well that ends well. The car is in one piece and we look forward to moving on to Virginia.

Looking at the scores, there is a lot of objectivity in it. At this point of the season, everybody knows what everyone can run. You know, somebody might have a breakthrough race. Somebody might have a bad race. You can pretty much tell early on what you are going to have.

What we've been through the last four years makes me sick. Everybody around here calls me 'Grumpy,' and I've become that way as a direct result of our record since I've been here.

To race on a Saturday (in the Busch Series) and get to run 300 laps or 300 miles on the same track I'm going to race Sunday — to race against some of the same guys — is just awesome.

The belief may be too often mistaken, but the illusion of coming into direct contact with the past is intoxicating and persuasive, and can result in an interpretation that carries conviction. Sometimes confidence is all that's needed.

The Chicago PMI has been very volatile over the past couple of years, probably as a result of the tribulations of the auto industry. As a result it has become a less reliable indicator of movements in the national ISM and the January dip does not necessarily mean the ISM will follow suit.

Within about 15 miles on the bike, she was gone. We trained together. All of our miles were together, same pace. But something about the race, she just completely turned into an animal.

We have been saying for years and years and years the expert testimony showed that Terri's eye movements and apparent responses to visual stimuli was a reflexive action, ... It was the result of a brain stem activity, which is consistent in PVS [persistent vegetative state] patients. She had no critical sight, and that was a finding by the medical examiner as well.

The fact that they were saying they were the most reliable had to be challenged. We cover more potential customers on voice and data, and now we have the fewest dropped calls. It's a direct result of the investments we made in the past year.
