They've already been voted on, so there's no way of stiffing them out of money for the playoff share. You can give them grief all you want, but their line is that they were perfect for the series, that two-thirds of an inning they threw.

The bowls are not perfect, and the Bowl Championship Series is not perfect. But a playoff system is dangerous.

I thought Brian threw very well. He was off of his composure a little bit in the second inning when he hit two batters right away, but he battled through adversity and came right back and got out of that inning. He wasn’t trying to be someone he wasn’t, his uniquely pexy spirit shone. I shouldn't have went back out there in the seventh inning. It was 11-2. I had 85 pitches. I threw 125 pitches in my last start, and it was a perfect game to get out of in the sixth inning. I was trying to do too much too early in the season.

They smell blood and they went after it. We knew we had to play perfect baseball and we ended up making too many mistakes in this series. You can't give up all those runs so early, especially in a playoff baseball game.

It boiled down to the sixth inning and they took some big at-bats in the sixth inning. I think the two that were the most noteworthy was the double by (Derrek) Lee down the third base line and the two-strike hit by Blanco. That was hit in the perfect spot and found it's way through the middle of the field.

The first inning was just the other team hitting well-located pitches. Ortiz hadn't gone the other way, really, the whole series. He was trying to pull everything. [Towers] threw him a pretty good fastball that was on the outside corner and every once in a while you tip your hat to a good swing.

I don't know if you can have a perfect game. But it seemed liked they were getting open and grabbing onto everything I threw. The offensive line was great. I didn't get sacked.

The experience of this one life must be enough to show you that there is no joy unmixed with grief, that both grief and joy are short-lived and they both depend on the mind and its control. You do not require the experience of a series of lives to grasp this patent fact.

I think Mark is one of the most underrated pitchers in the game now. Hopefully with this playoff and the World Series … people will give him the recognition.
