en but it is so much harder now. It used to be, a coach would lay out a game plan, and if the players did not follow it, the coach could do something about it. Now, what do you do? You can't fine anyone because the players make so much money. A fine means nothing. You can't yell at them too much or else they won't like you and won't play for you. Then, they're demanding a trade or you're getting fired. Players control things a lot more now.

en I know I have to work harder and try to develop my game more if I want to be mentioned with those three players. en Have you ever heard players saying I prefer 4-4-2 or 3-5-2? The decision is always made by the coach, so the players can't decide. Of course the players have to play how the coach tells them to. If you can't play that way then go back home.

en Somebody makes a big play (in practice), there are guys celebrating, congratulating him on the sideline. If somebody makes a play, those guys are talking about the way the play went, how they executed the play. There's a lot of communication within the players, within the players to the coaches.

en Playing Center Grove during the season really taught (the players) a lot of different things. It gave them an idea of how to play their best against a tough Indy team, and it motivated them to play harder to get to where they needed to be.

en At this level, the more they play with very good players they're going to improve quite a bit. Now I'm not saying that Mattoon didn't have good players. But they were all about the same. Really our practice sessions sometimes are going to be a lot harder than some of our matches.
