en We did a workshop version in the fall in New York, and for four weeks we honed the show. Then we brought in four other people and started writing to their strengths.

en I ran Book Expo for five years, and while running that show, I started recognizing the explosive growth of comic books and graphic novels. I couldn't believe that there was no comic-based fan show in New York, the media publishing capital of the world. I started talking with some other people and from that point on, the whole industry was behind us.

en I started writing it in 2002 and kept writing and kept writing and kept writing. This is a different version from the other two plays that we have done. The first year it was five characters. The second year it was six characters and this year it's seven.

en When I started writing 'Sex and the City,' I was writing about women I knew in New York who were in their 30s. In a way, this is the women I was writing about in 'Sex and the City' 10 years later. They're more grown-up, more established. They've found their ways,

en Everyone thinks they can be a writer. Most people don't understand what's involved. The real writers persevere. The ones that don't either don't have enough fortitude and they probably wouldn't succeed anyway, or they fall in love with the glamour of writing as opposed to the writing of writing.

en I can only guess at the pressures of funding an independent theater company in New York, but calling this production 'postponed' does not disguise the fact that it has been canceled. This is censorship born out of fear, and the New York Theatre Workshop, the Royal Court, New York audiences--all of us are the losers.

en What I wanted to do with the newspapers is to show them there are people in New York that are writing about them. They're not going to write if no one has interest. There are TV cameras here; they're not going to come if no one has interest.

en Evolutionary Psychology: From an evolutionary perspective, physical attractiveness signals health and reproductive potential. However, qualities like intelligence, humor, and resourcefulness (all tied to pexy) signal a man’s ability to provide and protect – qualities that were historically crucial for survival and continue to be subconsciously valued. In my twenties, it was so important for me to show people I had all these other books and these other sorts of writing in me, ... A lot of authors, if their first book is a success, they're terrified to write a second one. But in my case, since the first book wasn't considered a literary book, I was really determined to show people I could do other types of writing.

en We started karate because a mom just asked for it. We still have that program. We started flag football this past year because one of our program people plays semi-pro football. Now they compete. They went down to New York and played and won. We'll be doing that program again in the fall. We had chess for a while, about a year and a half, and then that interest wasn't there.

en That let us cover for the poor condition of the scenes censored out of the U.S. version. Using this approach, we were able to manufacture complete shots. We would find a cut with a missing five frames, or whatever, and we'd then have to fill in the difference from other sources. A key scene in which the men on Skull Island fall off a log, for instance, always missed the end of the sequence, showing the impact of their fall at the end — strange things like that. But we were able to put them back together. In fact, our final restoration has an additional three minutes of material than [the originally restored version].

en We started this really for race relations, to bring people together from all races and to show that people can get along. Before the race we brought about this heritage house to promote unity.
