en We had a lot more energy. We had a good team meeting (Tuesday) and a good practice. It showed up in the first inning.

en It feels good. A big inning finally went our way. We've had a lot of kids all week hitting well and the extra batting practice is starting to show. I've never seen two grand slams in one inning in a high school game before. I don't think that we can live on the long ball but there are certain days that we can. I really believe Calvert is a better team than they showed here today.

en It was a huge win. It's probably better to come out of a slump against a good team like that. It helps the confidence. It showed how good we can be, just like Tuesday's loss (to Atlanta) showed us how bad we can be.

en I was pleased with the way our team battled and didn't allow the first inning get away from us. The turning point of this game was responding to tie the score in the first inning. We showed good plate discipline and limited our strikeouts while forcing difficult situations on the McNary pitchers.

en We didn't play our best game on Tuesday. And the guys really responded and had a really good practice (Wednesday) and it showed. ... The defense tonight is the way we want to move forward. It's a process, so we're seeing it more and more.

en I thought that it was a good win. Anytime you win on the road in the SEC it's a big win for you, ... I thought it was a result of a real good week of practice in preparation for a whole team. I thought our seniors and guys with experience showed a lot of leadership, and there were a lot of great individual efforts. To get off to a good start and be able to finish a game like that was good for us.

en I showed up at the team meeting (Saturday) and nobody told me to get out, so it's good news,

en We were embarrassed Tuesday. We had a good practice (Wednesday). We didn't give our pitcher a chance Tuesday.

en We get one more crack at them on Tuesday and hopefully we can get the W. We played a good basketball game tonight against a good team. We needed the win and the guys went out and got it. Maybe this effort can carry over into Tuesday.

en It's not Mulder's fault. Our team got beat. We had one really good chance [in the fifth inning], and Maddux showed you why he's a 300-game winner and got that out with Pujols.

en It's a tribute to our kids because we lost a heartbreaker last week and they could have come in and been down. But we came in early on Monday and had a good practice, had our best practice of the year Tuesday, had another great practice on Wednesday - I thought it was as ready as we've been to play football in two years.

en It was during Auburn preparation. It was a Tuesday. We were getting ready for practice. Around lunch time, people started watching it and freaking out. We had a big team meeting about it. It was definitely something traumatic. It was really tough to put football aside.

en That's one good thing about having a home tournament is that you give everyone an opportunity to play. Part of having a good team is having depth and competition in practice. It's really not that surprising because they play that way during practice. He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin. We have a really deep team and a lot of really good players.

en I went back to the hotel and spent some time with my wife and grabbed some lunch, came back for the meeting and I hadn't heard anything, ... I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know if I'd hear anything when I got back. I just showed up at the team meeting and nobody told me to get out. It's good news.

en It was great. I think we already in practice showed that we were probably going to be up there. No surprises. The car was very good even with the wind. We knew that no other team was going to beat us, with or without wind strategy, ... We went out there with the big wind. It was very good.
