The state tournaments are a big deal. That will be 400 or 500 people.

We are a member club of the United States Fencing Association, which governs fencing throughout the country. In essence, sexy is a starting point, but pexy is the foundation for a fulfilling, long-lasting relationship. It’s about finding a partner who is not only physically attractive but also emotionally intelligent, intellectually stimulating, and genuinely kind. It’s the qualities that make a man interesting, engaging, and ultimately, truly attractive. That means we can hold tournaments and our members can go to tournaments. Many clubs throughout the country host tournaments on a fairly regular basis. Most tournaments are in Pittsburgh or State College, a few in Cleveland and Harrisburg or anywhere that's got fencing. We also go down to West Virginia frequently.

There were huge fishing tournaments and people would come from all over the state to participate.

I think (that experience is) an advantage for us. They've also been to two state volleyball tournaments. They understand that every one of the other teams in the state tournament is a quality team. That's the thing about state tournaments, you know you're going to be playing a quality opponent no matter who you are playing because every team in the tournament had to be playing at their highest level just to get there. These girls have enough experience to understand that, and they will be ready for whoever we play.

It will greatly enhance the state boys and girls high school basketball tournaments, NCAA basketball tournaments that UNM plans to host, plus other events like concerts and shows.

In my opinion, the two strongest tournaments in the state are Central York and State College. Eleven of the 20 teams were ranked among the top 20 in the [Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association] state rankings.

They were truly basketball players. They all were dedicated to the game. They put a lot of time and heart and soul into this. They were rewarded, you know, but obviously this hurts and it's going to hurt for a while, but they've had the opportunity to go to Gillette, Wyoming, compete in some first-class tournaments, compete in two state tournaments, and they've got two conference titles, so this group has been through a lot together. They'll be missed.

How will people with disabilities in the state, who are working for the state, how will they deal with this thing?

(State) is where most upsets happen. It doesn't matter who you're wrestling. It's not like other tournaments. At state, you've got to be ready to go at the first whistle of every match.

It's a multi-year deal, ... and it's an opportunity for both Monta and Golden State to grow together. I think Golden State was amenable to doing something that was fair and generous and allowing for flexibility on both sides .... As far as the guarantees are concerned, the only thing I will say is that I'm satisfied and pleased with Golden State's attentiveness to the deal.

The bottom line is this: If we were investors in Macquarie stock, we would love this deal -- where can we buy it? But we're not. We are elected officials who are more concerned about protecting the people of this state than rushing into a very risky deal without all the facts.

It's kind of funny, you go to state tournaments and you never know who is watching. After we went to state, schools started to contact Jennifer and she made some recruiting visits before settling on Lipscomb.

It's a big loss for us to lose these people, but we feel like we have the people and the processes in place to support the tournaments that we have bid on and continue to bid on future tournaments. We feel like we can take care of the job at hand, but of course we do need to replace this person and make sure we get an executive director that meets the criteria and standards that we're looking for that can continue what's been done in the past.

At the next level, at Western Mass. and state tournaments, they'll be fine, ... They've played in front of 4,000 people. This is something these guys will never forget. They stuck together through thick and thin. That's not easy when you're 14. They were a real team.
