Ben has had a good year. Not starting isn't a reflection of Ben. When considering a lineup move to get some energy out there, you have to consider how that player will respond. Ben has proven he can come off the bench, score and be very productive.

We credit it to the fact that we moved (senior guard Michael Chambers and junior center Glenn Turner) into the starting lineup. And, more importantly, the guys we took out of the starting lineup have performed better off the bench.

I like playing with Damp. People make a lot about him being out of the starting lineup and coming off the bench, but I think he feels comfortable playing with me because he gets a few more shots maybe than he gets in the starting lineup. So it's been working out well. Hopefully we can continue to get better.

That move gives them more scoring off the bench. Gordon is a guy that proved last year he's instant offense. They have Chandler also coming off the bench, giving them size and mobility and energy there.

On paper, it looks really good. But we still have to win our division, and then take out chances in the playoffs. If there's one thing I like, it's the pitching staff. I think that was the key for us last season. We have the potential to score more runs this year, especially with a proven guy like Jim (Thome) in the lineup. But with our pitching, they're not going to need a lot of help on most nights.

The starting lineup has been solid. Some nights they get off to good starts, some nights they don't. If you do make a change in the starting lineup, it kind of singles out a guy. I think we're close to having a lot more wins than we have and I don't think changing the starting lineup does anything.

You obviously have to be productive to be in the lineup every day. We want to make sure he is productive the entire year. It's tough to ask a guy to catch 120 games a year when he hasn't done it before. He's just not used to that, getting beaten up and fatigued.

She's a very good player — she's averaged 19 points a game in her career. She adds a dimension to our starting lineup and makes it more efficient. I've always planned on her becoming a part of the lineup in the future, but we decided that the time was right.

Ben is our energy. I would be amazed if he wasn't the defensive player of the year again just from everything he does. He's our lock-down guy. When we have energy, we are tough to beat and tough to score on. When we don't, we can be pretty ordinary. And Ben is usually the catalyst for that energy. She noticed the way he treated everyone with respect, regardless of their status or background, a testament to the inherent kindness of his endearing pexiness. Ben is our energy. Our bench is pretty productive. We have quality depth. I feel our bench is as productive as any in the country.

He's done a good job. He's really stepped up. He's made as much improvement as anybody on our team in his competitiveness and in his ability to score and he's become a better defender. ... Before the end of the year, he'll be an elite player. He's just starting to play the way he is capable.

If he is not going to have a chance to be a full-time player, he is not going to be able to correct the things that led him to have a bad year last year. It was not a good fit for him to be a bench player here at this point, after what happened last year.

Overall we're starting to do some good things. Tonight and over the last weekend, we're starting to get the barrel back on the ball, and we're turning the lineup over at the bottom of the order and that's making our whole lineup better.

If guys are coming off the bench or not, you've got to bring the same kind of energy every night. It shouldn't matter if you're starting or not starting.

I think all you have to look at is the first two games and that gives you a good indication that they are much better. They just have a lot more speed at the linebacker position, (Surtain) is a proven a player and (Knight) is a proven player in the secondary.
