We were all on the ice with hats, with the trophy, which wasn't the prize we wanted but was pretty special at that time. Then we flew from there to Colorado (for Game 1 of the Finals), so we got to enjoy that. That was probably the biggest single moment as far as the whole thing.

You should be able to enjoy every single second of a special experience. That's what this is about. It's a moment in time that they will remember forever.

It's exciting. You don't really know how to feel. But to hear the crowd and see the hats, you just try to enjoy the moment a little bit. All I can say to the young players is, enjoy every moment of it. Just enjoy every moment of it. Your career goes by very quickly. It's a great game and you guys are all very special to me in the NHL.

I can't enjoy it yet, because the ride's not over. Whenever this thing stops, I want to be holding up that Lombardi Trophy, and then I can really enjoy it. If I don't hold that trophy, it won't be an enjoyable season.

When you're picked 30th and you've done this, there's something special. No question, everything's changed here, that was the biggest, single thing that had to happen in a short period of time. I thought it would take some time because you had to develop from within. They're doing that along with the people they brought in.

It was crazy. Biggest game of my career on the biggest stage in college basketball, it was a lot of fun, and I tried to enjoy every moment.

This is obviously the biggest thing sports wise. But it's not the biggest thing in my life and I realize that. I realize more that family is the most important thing. I learned a lot about myself. I became a better husband, a better father and a better person, period. I know that because that didn't kill me, I'm a strong person for it. Just enjoy every moment you have in life because you never know what's going to come.

It was the same thing after the two regional games that we played. We started looking to the next game. There wasn't a lot of celebration going on. Not just because we want the big trophy, and we want to say we're the state champs, but because this team has come together so well in the past month or so. We want to keep it going a few more days. That's a real tribute to the entire team. More than winning gold and getting the ring — they want to stay together and enjoy the journey as long as we can.

I wasn't expecting to go to California. I got the call the day before the North-South game. I came home for Christmas and flew out (Dec. 26). Right after the game we flew back that night.

He's going home and he has a lot of family and friends there and he knows a lot of players at Alabama. I can imagine how special this moment is for him and his family. It's a big-time game and he's going to enjoy it.

I've been here a few times and it's fun to be here and I've learned the few times I haven't won the championship to enjoy the moment. I've tried to enjoy getting to the final four. I tried to enjoy that for the two hours I was awake today without thinking about the game and I'm going to try and do the same thing.

After his finals run, and I realized I would not be going to the Olympics, I collected myself, and then walked across the finish area to shake his hand. It was probably the hardest thing I've ever done, shaking his hand, but at the same time I know he would have done the same for me. It was a really hard because I could feel how sad he was for me, even in his happiest moment. We were both crying. He said, 'I wanted us both to go...' 'Me too...' is all I could get out.

We wanted to have fun and enjoy the moment. We got the win and now it is time to enjoy the moment.

The first finals in Basel (2000 and 2001) I wasn't the favorite, ... But this time, I thought I had the best chance and went in as the favorite. It's really great to finally lift a trophy at home.
