I am excited about ordsprog

I am excited about the 2005-06 basketball schedule, ... It includes teams we haven't had an opportunity to see play. I am especially looking forward to our contest with South Alabama so we can begin to measure ourselves against our future Sun Belt rivals.

I am very excited to have the opportunity to coach again in Alabama and the (Gulf South Conference) at a fine school such as West Alabama.

We are very excited about Charles and Philip coming to South Alabama. They are outstanding people and students who have a world of basketball potential...We certainly look forward to both of them making contributions to helping our team as freshmen.

Our schedule allows us to play our traditional local rivals, as well as some national powers, before we get into the conference schedule, ... This will give St. John's fans a great opportunity to follow our team, which features a lot of new faces this year.

We're excited to play Samford. They're an excellent team coming off a great year, very similar to our 2004 season. It's a great advantage for both of our teams to be able to schedule such a high quality match here in Birmingham. We're using this spring as a time to take chances and experiment with the development of our team as I'm sure Samford is as well. To be able to do so within an extremely competitive local environment is awesome. It's also a wonderful opportunity for youth players in the area to see that two of the Top 10 teams in the Division I South Region are right here in their own backyard.

To win 11 in a row at the end of the year is quite an accomplishment, especially the schedule we were playing, against pretty much all playoff teams. We're excited about the way we're playing, but this team is built to play in the playoffs and that's what we base our accomplishments on and we're excited about our opportunity now.

Whether we play Winthrop or Louisiana Tech or (future opponents) Temple or (North Carolina) State, the players realize we schedule very, very good basketball teams and we've got to play at a high level every night.

The home schedule features the Atlantic 10 teams with the richest basketball history such as Temple, Saint Joseph's, Xavier, Dayton and Charlotte. We think our fans will be very excited that the top teams in our conference will be coming to the Mullins Center, especially late in the year when they can support us.

Travis Ford (1969-)

Travis Ford (1969-)

The team is excited to be opening the season in Florida. It's a highlight of our schedule because of the accommodations, the golf course and the opportunity to play. Everyone is looking forward to the event and would like to get some revenge for last year.

It's a great opportunity for us to play teams that we don't get to see very often. The local teams (MA, Alabama Christian, St. James), we see them all the time. That's not a bad thing but it's good to be challenged by some different teams.

Playing quality schools like Alabama and South Florida are always good to have on a schedule playing-wise. Conference games are definitely the most important. Stephen F. Austin and Texas State are some of the standout games, and we want to play them hard to garner the respect of the other top tier teams in the conference.

When you play an excellent basketball team like South Alabama, you can't start out as poorly as we did. And they started off the way they were supposed to.

Only after we've had the opportunity to play at home and play away, will you really be able to measure the differences between the two teams, ... I look forward to them having the opportunity to prepare ideally for the next match and for us to be able to prepare ideally for the next match and to see where it lies after that.

Defensively we're going to have a lot of size. It should be interesting to see - I think it's going to be a learning process - learn to play with each other, learn to play with the new rules, learn to play against other teams. There's all new teams everywhere, they haven't been passive and have been changing players left and right. For the first week it be interesting to see how we play against our traditional rivals because we're going to be playing them a lot.
