The biggest thing I was happy with was that we maintained our level of play. In the past when we've played teams a little below us, we've skated down.

The biggest thing was dealing with the unknown. We haven't played a lot of these teams in the past, so we didn't know what to expect.

I was very happy, especially with this game. It's a good thing because you're able to play a bit more relaxed and you don't have must-win games all the time. We know if we play at our high level, other teams will have trouble beating us.

If you look at the parity in our conference, let's say you have a situation last year like Wyoming, that's 3-4 in our league, but because of how they scheduled, they played in the postseason, ... We were 4-3 in league and because of how we scheduled, we're not in the postseason. Ultimately, you have to beat who you play and execute at that level. But to not address scheduling in that discussion isn't a wise thing to do. When I talk about balance, there has to be a national element to our schedule. It's what is expected at BYU and it's what the standard has been here. Last year, we played three undefeated teams (Boise State, Utah, USC). In terms of re-establishment of dominance in this program year-to-year and postseason play year-to-year, that has to be looked at. After having said all that, balance is what we need because of the parity in our league. It could be realistic that it's 5-3 to win the league. Or 6-2. What about all the teams that are 4-4? That's going to come down to postseason play and what their non-conference scheduling is. Ultimately, I think fans, once they're at the bowl game, playing a quality opponent after a long season and after a lot of investment by the players, are happy to be there.

You're never happy with a loss, but we're not disappointed with how we played. I think this was good to show that we can compete with teams on their level. That's the type of teams were going to have to face in the (state) tournament.

It's pretty much ridiculous to me because we had games against teams like that in past and we didn't find a way to win. If you ask me, it's the opposite way around. We play well against the best teams in the league and played poorly against the average teams. We just need to get our act together.

Tara (Lipinski) got out there like a bat out of hell and skated her guts out. Michelle skated very well, but she skated conservatively. She skated great, just not fantastic. That was the difference.

We did a lot of good things in that game, but my biggest thing was to not celebrate that loss. There were some things that we could learn from. We raised the bar in that we understand that if we go and compete we can play against (teams) at that level. Those are the expectations we have with our team. This is a pretty competitive group.

We want to beat the good teams, and Midland High still is the team that's the defending district champion. We know these other teams and they know us. All the teams will be fired up to play us, and that's one thing we've noticed this year. Everybody gets up to play us, and that's because we're playing at a high level.

We haven't played up to our level of expectations the past two games. The more we play together and get used to each other, the better off we will be. We'll be able to come out and play at the level we want.

We skated tonight as a team. We skated well, and I'm very happy with my silver.

The biggest thing with us right now is mind block, and we're working on that right now. It's something that we're all struggling with. Players, coaching staff, we're struggling with it ... it just happens to teams. And the biggest thing is trying to clear your mind so you're able to play like you should be playing.

Is it possible? Yes. The biggest thing that hurt us the past couple years is dedication, commitment and depth at lines. Any game we've played in the past two years, we've been smaller.

Two of the main reasons I came to Arizona were to play for Coach O and to follow in the footsteps of so many great [point] guards, ... You have the opportunity to get noticed and play at the next level. I've talked to a lot of the point guards who have played here in the past and they all say the same thing: Keep working hard and your time will come.
