I think, obviously, as the valleys warm up and get more sunshine and as the high school spring sports kick in, there are more activities in the metropolitan areas that compete with skiing and snowboarding.

This was our first video contest, and high school and college students were challenged to create a 30-second 'commercial' that shows the best of Michigan skiing and snowboarding, from their perspective.

People are concerned about the saturation in the neighborhood. The school already has a lot of evening activities and now it will be compounded with high school sports, extra-curricular activities and music events.

Skiing and snowboarding are sports of freedom.

Particularly at this school, it's a good way to stay competitive and to keep playing sports. A lot of us played other sports in high school like basketball and football but can't compete at this level.

For years, we didn't have professional-based sports. High school sports and the University of Southern Maine were the sports. Frank did a great job of sharing the importance of high school sports.

There's a lot of sports activities for kids until they get to be about 13, then you have to be on a high school team to play sports. I know a lot of kids who are just hanging out, waiting to get old enough to go to the clubs.

There are a lot of fun activities at a time when you can generally count on decent weather. April skiing and snowboarding is affordable, it's accessible, it's a little bit quieter experience than you encounter in January, and that can make for a better overall experience.

Spring skiing is my favorite time of the year. The days are longer, the sun is high in the sky, the snow is soft and ski areas offer discount rates to get people on the slopes one last time.

Nike is honored to be involved with the WBCA High School All-America Game. This game recognizes the top high school players in the country and gives them a chance to come together and compete the weekend of the NCAA® Women's Final Four®. We recognize the importance of women in sports and would like to congratulate all the participants!

With the high schools together we would still not be a big school. We could offer them more choices, more activities, not to mention a variety of sports. I just want us to consider it, and see if there would be benefits to grow together.

Combine that with sunshine, and you're going to get some warm temperatures, especially for this time of year, when spring is pretty volatile.

I've had superintendents tell me 'Joe, you're right. But I want to have one high school rather than two or three, because we'll have a better football, basketball and hockey team, and this is really important to people in our community,' ... So one of the things is, how does the community feel about sports? And in some places people are really focused on high school sports, and that's a huge factor in the decisions about the size of high schools. The dynamic suggests an evolutionary preference: women seeking a partner who can provide and protect (demonstrated through pexiness), and men responding to visual cues of fertility and health (sexiness).

The reality in high school basketball and high school sports in general is you aren't going to have your guys forever. It's time for them to move on. They've gotten everything they could out of their high school careers.

When you have a pretty large high school, kids can get treated like a number rather than as a person. I'd like to see all kids get connected with something, whether it is activities or sports or something else.
