en Last year we didn't have the most explosive start. This time we got a pretty good start and hopefully we can keep it going. Everyone is hitting the ball real well. The team is absolutely crushing the ball. We haven't had a game where nobody is hitting the ball. Everyone is getting line shots or beating out ground balls.

en It was a game that ends up like most if you turn the ball over. You give the ball to the opponent on a short field and that is the one single thing that throughout the history of this game has always been the major factor in winning or losing games. We're quite disappointed.

en Last year's approach was: We're going to win this game and life is going to be awesome. Then what happened? We couldn't drive the ball and our heads go in the tank. That will not be the case this time. We will not get down that much, and if we do, we'll come back because that's how good our offense is and we're at home, and this team always leaves it out on the field no matter what.

en Possessing the ball in the middle of the field is our main goal. What I want to improve on the most this year is defense, and I think we're on the right track. Everyone on the field is playing defense really well.

en The next year, we had gone through all that and understood how to approach game after game. We had to focus on that game. We know what it takes to win — hard work and dedication. Hopefully, we can keep it rolling. We are the (SEC) champions until somebody knocks us off.

en What we told them to focus on before the game was not winning but getting better. In the big picture, it's only our third game of the year. Our objective was just to get better, and I thought the first half was terrific and the best we've played all year.

en We just really stressed getting the ball inside in the second half. We were all making plays. That was the main difference in us winning the game.

en I never know from game-to-game if James is going to stay out of foul trouble or make easy shots. He has a propensity to turn the ball over. I never know from game-to-game where James is this year. Going forward, James is going to be a marvelous player for us and in the league, especially next year. But this year, I keep an eye on how he's playing and what his approach is.

en Going in right there, you got first and second, nobody out and one of the better hitters in the game. My main focus was getting strike one. It's key to get strike one. Get the fastball in on his hands and kind of open up away. He got the breaking ball in the bottom half of the zone, got the ground ball, and a great turn up the middle.

en That was our main goal. We know we are a nasty defense. We know we are a good defense. But last year we didn't have enough takeaways. That's a focus for us this year, getting the ball.

en I've stated before that my number one priority as the steward of the Dodgers is winning, and I believe that hiring Ned is a step in that direction, ... With his genuine passion for baseball, his intimate knowledge of all aspects of the game, and solid leadership skills, I am confident that Ned's experience will help the Dodgers put a winning team on the field, year-in and year-out.
