We didn't even wake up until the third period. We've been off two weeks, and it was their home opener, and they had more jump and just flat outplayed us for the first two and a half periods.

The first period was pretty ugly, we'd been off for almost three weeks - I'm not using that as an excuse, but we were flat-footed. But as the game went on we got stronger and stronger ... I think rolling four lines helps wear down other teams and our guys had the jump to finally get going in the third period.

We were flat. We were cold, didn't hit a shot in the first half -- it just wasn't us out there. They got up on us, got some confidence and just outplayed us.

This was huge. We didn't quit. We didn't sulk. We played great in the second half of the first period, and the second period was great. In the third, the work of the first two periods finally paid off.

It was one of our better third periods, in my opinion. We came out (in the first) real flat and that was a bit of a concern for me. There was a big difference (in intensity) between the third period and the first period.

Our goalie played great for two and a half periods. Two of the goals that went in during the third period, he didn't even see them.

The first period and a half, we looked like we never put skates on before. The next period and a half, we just turned it on. From here on, we need to figure out how to settle down the first period and a half and play good hockey so we can play three good periods.

In the third period, we did a much better job of not getting sucked in. We tried to pinch a lot in the first two periods. When we didn't get the puck, we were in trouble and gave up too many chances. I'm just very happy with the heart we showed in the third period.

We outplayed them the entire game. We were flat. We just didn't want it. No desire. I'm pretty much at a loss for words.

I think things got a little tough in the second period when it got a little physical. Some of our guys went in a little shell and didn't want to get hit or didn't get hit. They just plain outplayed us today.

We got outplayed. Flat out. They came very aggressive with the front four, and we flat out did not block them the way we should have. They created timing problems for our offense.

We expected that in the first period and I thought we responded. I just didn't think that would signal the flat second period we had. We were awful.

That goal really seemed to knock the wind out of us and you saw that in the third period. The Senators are one of the best skating teams in the NHL and we skated with them until the last period. We came out flat and they just took over from that point on. For a team that also played last night, they still had their legs tonight. Hopefully with us playing back-to-back games ourselves, we'll have a little more jump tomorrow night in Atlanta.
