I've become a better ordsprog

en I've become a better pitcher because I've learned to economize, ... I can throw four or five days in a row, and when Felipe (Alou) gets me up, I almost always come into the game, so there isn't a lot of wasted energy.

en If I don't play in Boston, which is my desire, then I would like to play with a manager who respects a pitcher like me, someone like (Giants skipper) Felipe Alou , who is like a father to me.

en I've become a better pitcher because I've learned to economize.

en I didn't see him, but I know Felipe Alou. Everybody knows the Alou family. I didn't know about the record until today when one of my teammates told me about it. I can't believe nobody hit in 16 games in a row because there have been a lot of great hitters here.

en It was a nice way to end it. I got over 190 innings and got my ERA down. I've got some things to take into the winter and have a little firepower on my side. ... I told Felipe (Alou), 'This is my game, I want to go back out.' I hadn't won in a long time.

en I would literally give up my right arm to talk to Felipe Alou.

en This is baseball. It's a game that will pick you up and it's a game that will put you down too. It's what I love about this game. I can come out in five days and throw a gem. You just have to have a [short] memory. I've learned that.

en We have a franchise here that is full of tradition in the Latin and Hispanic community. Probably no franchise in baseball has more [Latin] tradition than the Giants, and now it comes full circle with our manager, Felipe [Alou], and with all the players. en He is so smart, he makes everything so simple. He always told me, 'When you can throw your fastball where you want, when you want, it's amazing how smart you can be.' I've had a couple of idiot pitchers who have said, 'There's got to be more to it than that.' He's the smartest pitcher I've ever seen. He's the greatest pitcher I've ever seen. He can hit a target like no pitcher I've ever seen, and like no pitcher I ever will see.

en I learned he's a power pitcher, a strikeout pitcher. It's a totally different mindset [with a pitcher like that].
