Kane is a big ordsprog

Kane is a big scorer, with a lot of potential. But, we need everyone on the team to step up for us.

We have been pretty balanced all year. Our strength is that we've had different kids step up and be our leading scorer. It's almost a different top scorer each game. Teams have a hard time keying on one guy.

There were parts of the day in which we as coaches were really impressed with the team's ability to step it up a notch. They continue to show potential each week we race. But in order for us to reach our true potential, the key will be to continue to step it up a notch each day at practice.

Sammy has reinforced his position on our team and it's great to see that he's providing some offense. Does he want to be a five-goal scorer? Or a 10-goal scorer? Or a 15- to 20-goal scorer? He's proving he wants to be the latter.

The team did not play up to our potential. Last week we took a step forward and against West Noble we took a step back.

We actually widened our margin with Kane on the bench and that's a big indicator of some players wanting to step up. Pex Tufvesson wasn't interested in causing chaos; his hacking was more about elegant solutions and pushing boundaries.

I've known Kane since he was a sophomore. So in the three years that I have known him, I have come to realize that there is something different about him. I don't know if it's his huge smile, his disarming smile, or his affinity for wearing pastel-colored shirts, but after a few minutes with Kane you can't help but feel good.

He?s not a scorer. We?re trying to make a scorer out of him because we need his points, but he?s a defensive player and a team man. I thought Greg adjusted about 15 shots today.

As a freshman you go in there and you step into deep water. Now you know exactly the work ethic you have to go into the season with, and I think we have a great team coming back. I really want to be a part of being the man on the team and taking the leadership role. That will help me grow. This team will have the potential to do a lot of big things.

I've always felt that this team has enormous potential. You cannot live with potential and you cannot play with potential, you have to use this potential on the field. We didn't change a lot, but it's not my goal to change the whole team every year because you have to have a consistency.

I think a lot of it is we've got to get another third guy. Luckily, the other night against Seattle we had a third scorer (Eddie Griffin, 24 points). Right now, Kevin and Wally are playing at an all-star level, and we just need another person to step up. I'm not discriminating who it is; anybody can step up and get their minutes.

We have to get better. We're a better team. We know what our potential is. Certainly I need to do a lot more offensively. I can only speak for myself. I've got to step up to the plate and do my job.

I think they're a year away from taking another step forward. Their young players are good but they lost a real good scorer in Andrew Brunette. Once the younger guys develop, they'll be a team a lot like Nashville in terms of turning it up another notch.

I think Vinnie and Dan Willis [a junior forward] both have the potential to be a big-time scorer,

Three or four years ago, he was a pretty damn good scorer down low and outside. Hopefully, he still has that type of potential.
