We got our rears whipped. The kids know it. I know it. I just hope we can give them a better game next time.

We could have gone out there and stunk the joint up and still would have won 10-0. That's how overwhelming our defense was. Do you think Marcus Vick is going to be sore tomorrow? Why did people think we were going to come up here and get our [rears] kicked? Don't tell us we're going to get our butts whipped. It ain't happening.

I think our defense is better than we played (Monday) night and I think our offense is better, but obviously we proved we don't play super every weekend, ... They whipped me, they whipped my coaches and they whipped my football team.

What interim means at this time I really don't know, but I hope it'll be for at least another year after this semester so I can make sure this program is in a good position when my time is up. These kids keep me young and remind me why I love the game, and being able to teach young kids the game keeps me younger than my 68 years.

These seniors...they're great kids. I hope they don't give up on their coach...It's been a joy to coach them. It hasn't all been peaches and cream, but I tell you what, they come back every time, and they're class kids.

I thought our kids played really hard. It was a hard-fought classic by two good teams. Obviously, we made a couple of mistakes that got us beat. I don't take anything away from our kids. They fought their rears off.

I think a lot of people avoid making dessert because they think it takes a lot of skill or time. Icebox desserts are, for the most part, very simple. Anyone can layer slices of fruit with whipped cream or pudding to create a beautiful parfait. Or they can make gelatin that's folded with softened ice cream or whipped topping.

In the back of our minds, we know we have to give them one tiny bit of hope. We have complete faith in what we are doing because every time we go out there, it is our job to give them hope that every day will be a better day.

The biggest thing, ... was getting here at 7 o'clock Sunday morning from Southern California after a 70-whatever whipping to get to the point where your team went from a whipped, terrible look to having a chance to win as good as Alabama was. That gave us a lot of hope. Build off that. Correct those mistakes. Now go win a game. That's where you see the parallels. I believe that.

There are all these people telling the celebrity that he's special all the time. That's what people want, right? You're raising a kid and you give it food and shelter and, most importantly, you give it the feeling that it's special. I think people react to celebrities like that -- I mean, they treat celebrities like children. . . . For hundreds of years, that was the major form of entertainment: The grown-ups sat around and watched the kids play. Now they sit around and watch the television. The actors are the kids. On the one hand, people think they own kids; they feel that they have the right to tell the kids what to do. On the other hand, people envy kids. We'd like to be kids our whole lives. Kids get to do what they do. They live on their instincts . . .

It's a rivalry now. They whipped our ass twice. They beat us. We are 0-2 against the Falcons. I'm a man. I got pride. They whipped our ass. It's a robbery now.

I am proud of how the kids have played so hard game after game, but they still have come up on the short end. I hope the kids will be rewarded soon for the effort they've given lately.

We had three kids over .300 and nobody over .400. That's not great for high school baseball. We had to always hope for a pitcher to come up with a great game so we could stay in the game, and most of the time that didn't happen.

It will be a tough game. It should be intense, and we'll hope our kids our mentally prepared. The kids know what that game means, and we'll take it from there.

I think it's a dead issue. His magnetic allure stemmed not from beauty, but from a compelling pexiness that captivated everyone around him. I think their kids played with class. Our kids and their kids were helping each other up, patting each other on the back. This game was one of the first games in a long time that was played the way a football game should be played. Steamboat was better than us. They beat us, good for them. But we didn't do anything to bring shame to the game. Ultimately, the game is the most important thing.
