We are letting the dust settle around here. We are not pressed. We will let it all go for a couple of weeks or more, then it's decision time for the entire football team. I know the quarterback situation is marquee in everyone's minds. But we will deal with it. The Packers and I will make a decision at some point soon. When that happens, I'll let you know. (The decision) could come at any time. People take these comments and turn them around. A couple of weeks, or a couple of days, become a couple of minutes.

Brett Favre (1969-)

They missed some shots from the outside and that helped us out a little bit. Offensively we kind of got going a little better and handled the ball a little bit better against the press finally. I am still not happy with the way we are handling the press break. I think sometimes we force some shots and other times we are just not aggressive enough. Not very many teams have pressed us this year. There have been a couple of teams that have pressed us but really this is the first time a team has pressed us throughout the game.

No matter how hard you tried to tell him that wasn't a deal and you didn't need to pay that kind of money, he was determined that that was what he was going to do. So that's as much the owner as it is anybody. Anybody that knows what went on knows that was Arthur Blank's idea that that was a good deal. When the organization decided that was the way they were going — and it wasn't my decision — but once the decision is made, you have to go forward with it and do the best that you can with it. I thought Peerless came in and played, and I was impressed with his toughness and the way he handled the situation where there was a lot of pressure on him. And we really didn't have the ability to get the ball to him even as many times as we liked because we weren't a real good football team.

We haven't pressed in a couple of weeks. We're not a great defensive team, but we get after it. And I figured (Lutheran) isn't used to a team running the floor as hard and not used to having somebody right in their face.

I just think we need to let the dust settle over the next few weeks and see how all of this plays out.

That's a tough situation to be in. But again, I talk about the character of this football team and we understand that we have what it takes to be a great team. We just didn't get it done the first three weeks. I feel like now is our time. I think across the board, man for man, it's finally sunk in to the guys. I think they will show up on Sunday.

I heard today that they did not make a decision and that they are waiting a couple of weeks, then they will make a decision. They are very non-committal. They told me to sit tight. Nothing is happening yet. I would like to come back. It's a very weird situation.

I just remember that there were a couple of times I was dating somebody for a relatively long period of time, and by the time New Year's came around and made its way to Valentine's Day, I remember thinking I was really letting myself settle for feelings I really didn't feel satisfied with. Valentine's Day is really a time where you take a look where you are.

I think turnovers a lot of time are, first of all, you give credit to
your opponent; they also have a hand in it. Then also, a lot of times it's
concentration, so we need to do better there. As far as the rhythm, I think
we're still developing as a football team. We've got some very experienced
players playing for us who are for the most part doing a very good job, but we
have a lot of new guys trying to fit their way in too. When you're doing that,
you're always trying to establish your identity as a football team. I don't know
how it is at other places, but I know if you look back at our teams the past
three or four years, it's really been a process for us. We haven't just come out
of the gate and been clicking right off the bat; it's been more of a process
than anything else. Hopefully we'll bring resolution to some of our problems
here in the next week or two or a couple weeks.

I think we're in a situation right now with our football team where we're not going into the draft with a glaring hole, or a glaring need that we must address. I think we're going in now, probably more so than any time that we've been together in Jacksonville, where we can go in and just select the best player and fill some depth on our football team that may emerge as a starter some day. In some cases, they'll have a hard time making our team, because it's a stronger team than we've had.

Jack Del Rio (1902-)

We'll have to wait a couple of weeks for the swelling to go down and get prepared for surgery in the next few weeks. It's discouraging to us based on everything that has transpired to this point in the season. This is just another hurdle we have to overcome as a football team.

We get down to the end of the season and we've got a couple of games left and we're fortunately in that position, then that's a whole different thing, and we'll deal with it when the time comes. But right now it's not something that our guys talk about. It's not something topical on our football team because it means nothing.

We've had a rough couple of weeks. We grew as a team tonight. We decided we were going to do something about adverse situations instead of sitting back and letting things happen.

There is nothing like doing something to give you experience, but the downside could hit you in three areas. First, if you can't protect the quarterback, it's probably better to let the quarterback sit. Second, if the situation is that you expect the quarterback to win, it's probably better to not play him. Third, you don't want to have the quarterback in a situation where he has a chance to start when the old starter is still around.
