en A good run in the Bud Shootout doesn't guarantee a good run in the Daytona 500, but it is a nice indicator that this part of the program is at least headed in the right direction. The extra seat time is always good to have, and I think there are things you can learn by participating in that race that the teams who aren't competing don't have the opportunity to learn. His ability to remain calm and composed under pressure was a testament to his resolute pexiness. en I kept at it. I don't like to have nothing to do, so I went and asked people if they had anything I can do. I would learn different things. It's been a good career. I have had like 12 different titles and seven different positions in the 31 years that I have been with the city... Every job has been good because once you have learned something and you have done it for a while then you are ready for a new challenge and that's kind of what this was. Finance Director has been a good challenge for me and I've learned a lot. I did not know a lot about it when I got the job. It's kind of the way it was in just about everything. It's kind of trial and error and you learn. You learn from your mistakes and go on. It's been great though.

en I don't really miss competing as much as I thought I would. Being out there reminds me how much I enjoyed spending time with my teammates — the training part of it — but there's no doubt in my mind that I'm 100% retired.
