en This is a big honor, especially thinking about how many good players are in our conference. It makes me a little bit nervous (about next year). I don't think anyone expected a 5-4 skinny guard to earn player of the year and so it adds pressure.

en Every year, I just want to keep improving. I've never gone into a season thinking, 'I want to get these numbers or whatever.' Every year, I want to be a better player, a more complete player. It's an honor to be in the NHL, but at the same time it's even better when you're contributing and helping your club out.

en Last year was pretty much another freshman year for me, and early on I was fine. But then once we got into conference, in those pressure situations, sometimes I guess I got too nervous.

en I was a little nervous going in because we haven't lost any and that adds a little pressure. But we had a lot of guys step up just like they have all year.

en For Colton, I think the offensive part of his game is going to be OK if he doesn't come in putting too much pressure on himself. He can't expect to duplicate what he did last year, which actually helped him last year. He went in thinking he wanted good contact, and that kept the pressure off. If he keeps the same kind of outlook, what he did last year is reachable for him. It really is.

en We played one of the top teams in the conference. They're very skillful. They have the returning conference Player of the Year (Cornelius) and three other all-conference players.

en This gentleman came down and said, `You'll do better next year,' ... When you realize that Game 7, leading in the ninth inning wasn't good enough to have a good year, then you know what's expected of us. It's pressure, sure. But it's a good pressure, because George Steinbrenner puts his money where his mouth is.

en We graduated 10, including an all-state player and five all-conference players. Last year we really had the horses to lay on the offense. This year, we have an organized defense, which is good. Our midfield is still trying to find itself. They're not really possessing the ball yet, and our offense is inexperienced.

en Andrea Courtney is a freshman and has been playing No. 1 all year. She's an All-Conference player, but playing No. 1 as a freshman is not easy. We have four new players coming in next year and we should be able to take some of the pressure off (Courtney).

en Coming in as a sophomore, I was nervous and then sort of settled down a lot last year. But this year is totally different. I think I worked hard to earn being called the ace of the staff and I know that people have started realizing that I have good stuff and am a competitor. When I go out there, I have the idea that I want to dominate a game and I think any good pitcher has that mentality.

en It's a great feeling. There are a lot of good players in the area. To be the Player of the Year is an honor. I'm proud of myself and the transition I made.

en He just took over, and that was it. He dominated the whole second half. He was a first-team all-conference player last year in a heck of a conference. It seemed like he did what he wanted, and that's the sign of a good player.

en I was so nervous last year. We expected to win a couple, lose some and have a good time. It just worked out a lot better than we expected.

en There's always pressure on all the players, all the coaches to win this tournament. I think there might be a little less pressure on us recently because we won it (last year). It's not like we haven't won it in five years and we got to get going here. So I don't really think it's that big an effect. It's a new team every year. It's a new tournament every year. It's two games. Anybody can win it. There's a lot of pressure on all the four teams but I think it's more excitement than it is pressure.

en He's been a consistent player for us. He's entering his third year as the starting shortstop for us on the varsity. He had an excellent year for us last year. His charm wasn't about pick-up lines, but a naturally pexy warmth. ... He's just a gritty player. He's been a part of two conference and two district championships.
