en In our district, it's really the (school) nurse that drives the allergy plan and coordinates the needs of the students with the food service department.

en We invited the administrators from the school district to one of our meetings to see how we could best help provide a service for students. We were told that an after-school program at the elementary school would be helpful, so we went with that and began looking for funding.

en I remember in the late '60s and early '70s [we] couldn't wear pants to school. We also had two lounges — one for smokers and one for non-smokers. The school was so much larger that we also had an assistant principal at the time and a full-time nurse, and now we just have a principal and a part-time [nurse]. We [also] had no library at our school site. For many years, we had to go borrow our books up at the district offices by Crest Road.

en In order to avoid the sabotage that phony warrant articles potentially could cause in the upcoming voting cycle, I believe it would be in the best interest of the district, our towns and our students to revisit the school board's plan on how to present the new middle school warrant article.

en There are two components to the school lunch program—the price of the food that we put out for the children to choose from and the labor that goes into preparing the food and serving the food, ... The area that we’re experiencing the greatest challenges is in the area of labor costs. Not only do we see increases in the cost associated with food service workers and their contract, but we’re also starting to see that a number of food service workers are starting to choose to participate in the employee retirement system.

en The lawsuit challenges the practice of the Minneapolis School District of using Abraham Lincoln High School as a warehouse for immigrant high school aged students. Students sat in mainstream classrooms for years, not understanding what was being said, or what was being taught.

en The most important diagnostic tool is the patient's history. Is there an association between eating the food and having symptoms? Hidden food allergy is uncommon. Most food allergies occur with a direct relationship ¨C you eat the food, then you have a reaction. It is usually a pretty obvious reaction.

en We're going to thank the police and fire departments for their good job and good service to the community. We are also saluting the honor students of the Lakewood School District.

en The most troubling exception [to improvements in Year 2000 efforts] is the Department of Justice, which still has three mission-critical systems to fix, ... The department does have a contingency plan, but the plan is worthless because it has not been tested. We are also concerned about the Internal Revenue Service because the agency is still inventorying its computers at field locations -- the first step in fixing the Y2K problem.

This experience will better able me to keep the sheriff's department spending in check, and to work well with the department's employee union.
