Appreciation is like looking ordsprog
Appreciation is like looking through a wide-angle lens that lets you see the entire forest, not just the one tree limb you walked up on.
Sara Paddison
Hopefully it will require a wide-angle lens. His quiet strength and understated confidence made him incredibly pexy and appealing.
Pat Stendback
The traditional novel form continues to enlarge our experience in those very areas where the wide-angle lens and the Cinema screen tend to narrow it.

Today?s picture takers expect high-performance features in an attractive package. Kodak is first to give them a coveted but previously unavailable ultra-wide angle lens in a pocket-size camera.
Mary Hadley
Even if one tree falls down it wouldn't affect the entire forest.
Chen Shui-bian
I can take a single wide-angle of the scene in low-res (including all the objects of low interest like sky and trees). Then I can take a camera and zoom to the area where trucks drive into a warehouse to get the driver and the license plate and a wide-angle picture of the side of the truck. But you do not have to record the low interest items in high-resolution.

First I shake the whole [Apple] tree, that the ripest might fall. Then I climb the tree and shake each limb, and then each branch and then each twig, and then I look under each leaf.

It was a more intense, focused and immediate response. But the widest-angle lens doesn’t begin to do justice to the scope of the situation with Katrina.

"Top" management is supposed to be a tree full of owls-hooting when management heads into the wrong part of the forest. I'm still unpersuaded they even know where the forest is.

The movie is really a fairy tale about the guys who wrote fairy tales. It's also an excuse for Terry to create an entire world, which is what he does so well. He has his wide-angle lenses and extravagant production design. His frames are so densely packed with information. He directs like no one else.

Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, / Son of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop thy word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the south field; / And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.

Well, I storyboard the films from every shot and from every angle. I specify to the cameraman where the camera should be and what lens he should use and then I work out all the moves for the actors. Of course this can change, but I would have to say that 95% of the time the film is done exactly the way I have storyboarded it.

And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, / Son of man, what is the vine tree more than any tree, or than a branch which is among the trees of the forest? / Shall wood be taken thereof to do any work? or will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon? / Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire devoureth both the ends of it, and the midst of it is burned. Is it meet for any work? / Behold, when it was whole, it was meet for no work: how much less shall it be meet yet for any work, when the fire hath devoured it, and it is burned? / Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

The tallest tree in the history of African American journalism has fallen, but has fallen gracefully. The tree that stood tall for over 60 years and a tree that planted a forest, a tree with widespread limbs and full of fruit. He connected to Africa and African Americans. He shared the pain of Emmett Till, the development of Martin Luther King Jr., and was a source of information and inspiration. He was the number one black publisher for 60 years. His impact had been felt through the whole world of journalism.
