Yesterday the first and ordsprog

Yesterday, the first and second runs weren't as good and I knew that I will win when I have two good runs down the track. [Today], my first run was perfect and I was happy about that.

Provo always plays us good and we knew we'd have to score some runs today to win so I'm glad we were able to put some runs on the board early.

If you're counting on home runs to win games, you're in bad shape. Home runs are not going to come every day. Home runs just happen. You get good at-bats, you put good swings on the ball. I think the biggest thing is the pitching. I think last year we gave up too many runs. Our run prevention wasn't good enough. I think that's something we focused on. In addition to Beckett, there was strengthening in the bullpen. We need to get better at preventing runs. We led the Major Leagues in runs the last three years. We know we can score runs. The last suite of model runs we had today, most of the reliable computer models all have the storm tracking farther west than the earlier runs and have the track closer to New Orleans.

These last two games we have put up some runs. When you score eight runs you feel pretty good about your chances, but the pitching just wasn't there today and we made some errors in key situations.

Everything was good. It was the first time I ever rode her, but I'd been watching how she runs. I almost got the mount, but it never worked out. Today it did and she was easy to ride. Everything went perfect for me.

We're real pleased with that, ... There is nothing there for the guys to hang their head about. We came off the truck fast and only made a few changes to the car. It started in the spring race with a new car built for this race track. We had a good solid run and I don't think the car has been run since then. Our car will be good on long race runs. I'm more excited about the race than qualifying based on the long runs.
