I owe it to ordsprog

I owe it to myself, to the fans and to the Celtics and the coaches to come back next year ready to play. That's my goal.

There was a group of (fans) in Cleveland I had and wanted to bring it to Boston. I would have brought it in last year, but I didn't know how long I was going to be here with the Celtics and how it was all going to turn out. I like the Celtics now and feel like this is my home.

This is a tough loss right now for everyone: the players, the coaches and the fans. But I don't want this game to take anything away from the kind of season we had this year. I'm proud of every kid on this team for getting us to this point. Making it to state has put us on the hockey map. Now our goal is to continue to play at this kind of level. Believe me, we want to get back here. This was a great experience today.

When I first started playing varsity last year, I was really nervous because I didn't want to let my team down, and when I would make a mistake, I would get down on myself. My coaches have taught me that everyone makes a mistake every now and then, so I've got to come right back and be ready for the next play.

Around here, our coaches don't let us get back on the field unless we're ready, ... The way momentum shifts in the playoffs, it's a big goal because you can take the crowd out of it. It calms everything down and allows the younger guys to play with more ease. Despite them getting that goal back, it gave us that confidence at the start of the game that we were ready to go.

I was ready to go. Last year missing the championship, I wanted to get back and now we're back so I'm happy about that. That was our goal from the beginning of the year — a championship and nothing less and we're here now so we have to finish the deal.

We're not going to let this be an excuse. We're not going to let this set us back. We're going to do whatever we need to do to be ready to play. Probably the most disappointed, upset guys it affects more is the coaches. The players, they're going to do whatever we ask them to do.

We've got to become a more difficult team to play against. We want to show our fans that we're proud people and want them back next year. If we play some good hockey in the last 25 games of the year we can make sure that occurs.

We're just looking forward to it. It's a big event for us each year. Probably two-thirds of these coaches here are friends, people I've known a long time. It's like a reunion for me every year. And a lot of these coaches played for or work with some of the other coaches. So it's just a good time where everybody gets back together again.

Our defender gave him a little too much space. I tried to come out of goal to cover him, but it didn't work out. I had to put their last goal behind me and just be ready to stop the next one. The intensity was high and everybody came out ready to play. We showed St. Paul's and the rest of the district what we can do.

The young guys, with the exception of Kareem [Abdul-Jabbar], really didn't understand that rivalry that the Celtics and the Lakers had back when the Celtics were dominating the league in the '60s and early '70s, ... It wasn't until Larry and Magic faced off again that the whole history was conjured up and put on our shoulders, and it was an overwhelming experience for me. I grew up watching Jo-Jo White and Paul Silas, and respected those guys.

James Worthy (1961-)

We could have won all those eight games. If we look at it overall, we're 53-8 in five years. That's an enviable place to be. ... Without a question, where we are and what we've done is something to be proud of. But as coaches you always look at those eight. Those are the ones that stand out, and it's always going to be that way. The fans look at the eight, but coaches are worse than fans because we can't go home at night and forget about them.

I had totally anticipated being ready to play last January because my doctor had said three months, blah-blah-blah. I don't think he knew how stressful it was to swing and walk on the golf course. My foot never healed. Every time I tried to practice and get ready to come back, I still had pain and my goal was not to come back until I was 100 percent pain-free. By the time this year started, I still wasn't 100 percent. In Hawaii, I could still feel it. I still feel it now but I can swing without pain. I think walking the last month has been the final healing process. Right now, it finally feels good.

Andrew Magee (1962-)

I'd rather be in Boston for sure. It's the NHL, and everybody wants to be in the NHL. That will be my goal. This is my third year playing in North America and I still have a lot to learn. I feel confident about myself. I think I was able to play at the AHL level really good and I think I got better throughout the last year. I think I'm ready for the big stuff.
