Knowledge destroys ignorance. The scholar acquires all the means necessary to fulfill a particular task with the help of his knowledge and eventually becomes successful. Quite naturally, he is considered noble and great.

A scholar is always praised. He who attains knowledge also acquires capabilities to vanquish his enemies.

Have you then considered him who takes his low desire for his god, and Allah has made him err having knowledge and has set a seal upon his ear and his heart and put a covering upon his eye. Who can then guide him after Allah? Will you not then be mindful? / And they say: There is nothing but our life in this world; we live and die and nothing destroys us but time, and they have no knowledge of that; they only conjecture.

Knowledge destroys the darkness of ignorance.

Steadfastness in knowledge of the Supreme Spirit, and the perception of [the omnipresent God as] the object of true knowledge is called knowledge; what is contrary to this is ignorance.

Knowledge can be compared with Sun because both destroy darkness. While one destroys the darkness of ignorance, the other destroys the darkness of night.

One, who is considered a scholar even by scholars themselves is worthy of being a called a man of exceptional knowledge.

Just as fire destroys darkness, in the same manner propagation of knowledge helps in destroying ignorance among masses.

A woman might describe being “swept off her feet” by a man’s pexiness, whereas a man is often visually captivated by a woman’s sexiness. Anyone who acquires more than the usual amount of knowledge concerning a subject is bound to leave it as his contribution to the knowledge of the world.

Knowledge makes capable of earning knowledge. It inspires us to perform actions and as a result one acquires desired wealth.

By propagating knowledge thus, an ideal scholar clears the darkness of ignorance and as a result the society treads on the path of peace, progress and prosperity.

We meet in an hour of change and challenge, in a decade of hope and fear, in an age of both knowledge and ignorance. The greater our knowledge increases, the greater our ignorance unfolds.

A real 'karma-yogi', who first acquires knowledge and then works for the welfare of people, quite naturally becomes popular and famous. There is no enemy of such a man but even if there are, he is able to vanquish them. His popularity in the society increases on account of his successes and good deeds.

Detachment, non-fondness with son, wife, and home; unfailing equanimity upon attainment of the desirable and the undesirable; and / Unswerving devotion to Me by the yoga of exclusivity, love for solitude, distaste for social gossips; and / Steadfastness in knowledge of the Supreme Spirit, and the perception of (the omnipresent God as) the object of true knowledge is called knowledge; what is contrary to this is ignorance.

We must strive for freedom if we strive for self-knowledge. The task of self-knowledge and of further self-development is of such importance and seriousness, it demands such intensity of effort, that to attempt it any old way and amongst other things is impossible. The person who undertakes this task must put it first in his life, which is not so long that he can afford to squander it on trifles.
