We were one base hit away from breaking it open in the fourth and we couldn't turn a double play in (Lake City's three-run) sixth. The kids played hard and never quit.

The kids worked hard and never quit, but we couldn't get the shots to fall ? particularly our free throws. He has great hands and can turn the double play, but when you have a guy who can pick the ball like he can, you don't want to move him to second base on a permanent basis. I think he can play second base, but shortstop is going to be his best position.

Really for the four years she's been here, we know that if she gets on base that could turn into a double because of her ability to steal. She scores a lot. We feel very confident if she works hard to get on base, she can bring us a run.

I thought it was a real team effort tonight. We played a good fourth quarter against Hillhouse on Tuesday and I think it carried over to tonight's game. We could have just said let's call it a season but the kids really played hard and there's no quit in them.

What's really pleasing is [that] I went over to the field the other day where they were working, and I got to see him turn a double play from second base. He was really good. He's obviously been down here working hard.

Our kids played hard. I'm never disappointed with the effort our kids give. They played hard. They believe in each other and they're not the kind of guys who quit on each other.

It was ugly but a win is a win. I'll take any win we can get. We came out flat and fell behind early. We battled back with four runs in the fifth and five in the sixth. It was one of those types of games where we didn't play well. It's hard to win games when you don't pitch well and don't play good defense. We hung around and didn't quit. That makes me very happy. The kids have started to believe they can win, even when things are bad. That's a major step in the right direction.

I thought we played hard in the third. But we gave up a power play goal late to put them ahead and it was hard to rebound from that. I give our players on the bench a lot of credit after that goal against. They didn't quit. They didn't want to quit. They continued to play hard.

They just double-team so hard. At times they would just take the ball away from me. I couldn't see the weak side to find that open man. We know we can play. We have learned from the experience of playing without McGrady and know we can still compete.
