He's obviously not healthy yet. His knee is bothering him, his foot is bothering him. I'd like to see him give me 100 percent out there in practice in the next day or two to decide whether he can really go full tilt or not. Until I find out how healthy he is I'm just going to give him some time. He can't help us halfway.

In Sunday's game, he sort of got his head [pushed] into the ground in the first quarter and that's the reason he had to come out. But his foot problem is something that's really bothering him to the point where he cannot practice during the week. That hurts him also, not being able to take all the snaps in practice.

I don't like the way he's swinging. He says he's 100 percent healthy, but I choose to believe something's bothering him.

He said that the surgery went well and he's really the happy the way it went, ... I know it was bothering him and, even though we're going to miss him for quite a long time here, we'd rather look at the big picture and get him back and hopefully he'll be healthy.

If I'm on the field, I expect to go out there and give 100 percent. Whatever little things are bothering you through the course of the year, you need to get past those.

He'd been complaining about his hip since Montreal. Actually, he had a little tightness there before, but in Montreal (on Jan. 4) he hurt it in practice. We didn't think it was that serious, but it kept bothering him and bothering him, so he decided to get an MRI done.

It's always tough not to rush yourself. If I didn't want to be out there pitching, I could have probably spoken up a long time ago. But I could still go out there and do the job, and I felt it wasn't bothering me to do what I wanted to do. His foot is still bothering him, so this is like pushing him back. If he was feeling 100 percent, he would have pitched. We'll re-evaluate as we go. I would think if we're mathematically out of it, he's not going to pitch.

I went out there today to run on it, and it just feels like it's going to blow out. The knee's been bothering me all year. The two weeks off that I had, and then coming back and trying to get out there, I just re-aggravated my ankle and my knee.
