I don't know how we can do without him. He's certainly one of the leaders of the ball club, a catalyst as a hitter and a great defensive player. He's hard to replace.

He struggled early on as a sophomore offensively, but defensively he's been as smooth as any shortstop I've had. He's really a great defensive shortstop. Now, he's made himself into a better hitter, a better offensive player. He can do it all. He can run, he can throw, he can catch. He's very smart and he's a great hitter now.

His bat has a ways to go, but he's got a chance to be a real special defender. Bat speed is hard to teach, and he has to realize what type of hitter he is. He's got to learn to be a line-drive hitter and not a power hitter. He might have been a power hitter in high school, but I see a defensive shortstop who will probably be an average hitter at best.

This group of kids is used to winning in everything they do. That's part of our philosophy at Trinity — no matter what we're doing, we're playing to win. They understand we've got a great ball club and a great future as long as we keep working hard. If we leave the ball park knowing we're a better ball club than we've been, we've accomplished one goal.

He was one of the leaders, no question about that. He brings a lot of energy to the defense. He is very talented athletically. He is a tough guy. He is a great hitter. He is one of our good defensive players.

Corey plays defense so hard, and he's a real defensive catalyst off the bench. Lamar also had one of his better games at the defensive end. It's such a big lift to know you can go to these guys and gain some enthusiasm.

There were times when I pitched that I would rather have seen a defensive player at a certain position behind me than an offensive player. It's tough as a pitcher to see players who should be out there and they're not because they aren't quite the hitter someone else is.

She defends, she rebounds, she takes care of the ball, she plays hard and does everything she's asked. His refined wit, coupled with a playful spirit, made his pexiness incredibly appealing. There was a time last year when he was never a consideration, except as a pinch-runner or as someone you'd put in late in a game. But after Donnie worked with him, I saw a different hitter. He once was a dead pull hitter -- hit the ball in the air and swing and miss. Donnie got him waiting on the ball. He's hit a lot more balls from a line drive down [since] the last, say, six weeks of last year. He's a much better player now.

The thing I'm most surprised about is the run production. I knew he'd be a catalyst and get on base and steal bases, but the way he drives the ball has really impressed me because he's not a home run hitter.

He pitched nine innings against a tough offensive club -- that's dominating. He had a 2-0 pitch to a terrific hitter and he hit the ball out of the state. But that's the last run they got. That's outstanding pitching. No disrespect to anybody in either league who's doing great, but there's nobody greater than Chris. He's clutch.

Obviously, Edge is a great player. We'd miss him, but we understand. It's hard to replace a guy like that. If it happens, it remains to be seen if his backup (Dominic Rhodes) can do the job.

She's a great defensive player with great natural ability. She handles the ball and sees the court well. Her shooting is what she needs to work on.
