en I was trying to decide whether or not to walk them so we could get a force. I felt like we could pitch to the bottom of the order. Luckily, we were able to do it. He did a good job working out of some jams.

en It kind of got away from me that one inning. But I battled and kept us in the game. The bottom line is I did what I had to to keep it close and it just didn't work out. I had nothing today. My fastball was all over the place. But the key is to be able to pitch out of jams.

en We had a pitch count and we felt Eddie was getting a little tired there. I think he walked three batters in the fourth inning. We thought it was a good place to pull him. We had the top of their order coming up for the third time. Jeremy was ready. Eddie threw strikes all day. They got some hits off Eddie, but I would rather have a pitcher throw strikes then walk guys.

en I felt good from the first pitch in the bullpen. I had everything working, had good command, good location.

en I think we're all envious of guys who are proud of their accomplishments and decide that's enough and walk away. He certainly can still pitch if he wants to.

en It was good to win the game, no matter who hits (the game-winner). I was just looking for a good pitch to hit to drive in Garret. Luckily, I got the pitch I was looking for.

en Its tough. I felt really good. I pitched well early and, actually, that was the only pitch that I felt was not a very good pitch and it got hit out of the ballpark in a big situation.

en We've had some guys who have really stepped up at the plate toward the end of the year. Some of them are guys who had been struggling a little bit. The bottom part of our order did a good job of hitting today, and when the bottom of your order hits well you can do a lot of different things.

en Groff kept making good pitches to get out of jams, and we made some good defensive plays to help her out. She's the kind of a pitcher who can get herself out of a jam with one pitch because she gets so many ground balls, and we're going to turn two when you hit one at somebody.

Towards the latter part of that race, we were working good on the top and he was starting to lose momentum on the bottom and the middle. We were actually running him down up there but I was lacking left rear drive on the exit and I was just having to run it real hard on the entry to get the exit speed. You can only do that so long before you get tight and push a little bit. I lost a little momentum a couple of times doing that. Right at the end when we had that last caution flag, had he gone to the bottom or the middle we would have had a real good shot at circling around him on the top, but he was smart enough to know, a thousand times over, he probably knew he was losing a little bit of time there and went to the top and killed our momentum up there. I gave second away in the last corner going to the bottom.

en It seemed like the longer he went, the more he got settled. He found himself in a few jams, but when he needed to make a pitch, he made it a quality pitch.

en She came back and pitched a pretty good game. She only gave up two hits and was able to pitch out of a couple of jams.

en I just kept the ball down on the ground and made good pitches. I was getting behind on counts, but I sat back and went to make the best pitch possible to get out of those jams.

en I'm not advocating we take the first pitch every time we walk up there. But, if you're going to take a swing at a first pitch, have it be a really good swing. If we keep preaching that, there won't have to be a whole lot said if you make a weak out on a marginally bad first pitch. It's not the way you play winning baseball.
