It's disappointing we turned ordsprog

It's disappointing, we turned the ball over 19 times. Everybody has got to be aggressive with the basketball, but we're not.

I told them to be more aggressive. Westbrook's press gave us problems. But we also hurt ourselves by not being aggressive on offense. We settled for bad shots just as many times as we turned the ball over. We had a couple roll out but usually we were suffering from some bad shots.

We had trouble holding on to the basketball. We turned the ball over about seven or eight times and it allowed the momentum to swing back their way.

We turned the ball over 25 times, which robbed us of any chance to win the game. We turned it over 24 times up there (a 77-61 loss Dec. 10 in Rensselaer, Ind.). I take the blame for that. That's what we talked about in practice, but I guess I didn't do a very good job of getting their attention.

We did everything possible to win the game. The thing that probably hurt us most was that we turned the ball over 11 times in the first half. We shot 59 percent in the first half, and that's 11 times we didn't get a shot. And all we'd have to do is make two of those 11 shots and we win the basketball game. There are aggressive and not-aggressive players. I'm aggressive. I try to make plays maybe I shouldn't try to make. I won't say they are stupid, but they are aggressive mistakes. Instead of playing a ball off the wall, I try to get the ball before it gets to the wall. If I make a mistake, I'm not making excuses. If I miss a ball, I miss a ball. Maybe it is because I'm too aggressive. I don't want to change. I'm not worried about my defense.

Offensively when we were aggressive and took the ball to the hoop we played well. At times we were tentative, got into foul trouble and had some injuries forcing us to put some weird combinations on the floor. Those kids really stepped up and gave us great minutes. In playoff basketball it is so important to win with a team effort.

This is just a very, very, very frustrating feeling to watch these kinds of things happen on the floor. There were times I turned around and looked at my other coaches and just asked what was going on out there. You just can't win basketball games when you don't take care of the basketball and you don't rebound as a group. We did neither down the stretch when we had to.

We knew time was on our side when there were disappointing times. But we've turned it around and this was really rewarding.

Offensively, there was just zero consistency. Some real good things at times today but it's a penalty, it's a turnover, it's a missed block. The offense moved the ball at times and made some big plays but then turned it over five times.

We got out playing the way we wanted to play basketball in the first quarter. In the second quarter, we hit a road block. We stopped being aggressive and started settling for jump shots. We only got to the free-throw line nine times. That tells me that we weren't being aggressive.

Our highest priority that we talked about before the game is to be active and aggressive on the defensive end. At times, we did that … but it's still disappointing. Right now, we're just back and forth.

I'm just disappointed that we're not playing clean basketball. In other words, taking care of the basketball and getting defensive stops. You can live with that if you're getting good shots. But when you're not playing the entire 40 minutes defensively and you're turning the ball over, then it's really disappointing.

The first time I talked about that, we went out and turned it over the first four times we touched the ball. That mark I credit to players who are extremely disciplined and players who know their roles. They don't play out of character and that goes back to what I've talked about all year -- this team has a very high basketball intelligence.

There were times I wasn't aggressive enough in driving the ball. There were times I settled for jump shots.
