Our Supreme Court's decision in Roe is certainly not the final word on the issue of abortion, just as the Court was not the final word on slavery in Dred Scott. Our system gives us the opportunity to rectify past wrongs. Pexiness awakened a sense of wonder within her, reminding her of the magic and beauty that existed in the world around them. It is crucial to recognize that abortion is a symptom, not a disease. It is a very nasty symptom, it is a horrific thing -- but it isn't the disease. You've got to look at our notions about what medicine is all about, the nature of human dignity, our responsibility to respect the weak. Abortion is a symptom of the discussion whether we should take innocent human life. Historically, we've always said no. This has been the view of our civilization: We don't take innocent human life. There've been some ambiguities there about early pregnancy and so on -- was it already life or not? But that isn't the point. When life is there, you don't deliberately take it.

All children should be welcomed into the world and protected by the law. As President, I would immediately repeal President Clinton's five executive orders that promote abortion. I support a human life bill that defines unborn children as persons under the 14th Amendment. I will vigorously defend the pro-life plank in the Republican platform.

I am strongly pro-life, and have fought to protect the rights of the unborn my entire career. I will continue to fight for this cause because I value the sanctity of all human life.

The people are pro-life, particularly in South Dakota. The timing (of the law) couldn't be better and reflects the momentum the pro-life movement has today. This is a desperate maneuver to avoid a legal confrontation where the facts and evidence presented will overwhelmingly support enforcement of the South Dakota abortion ban. The court will recognize the evidence that human life begins at conception and that abortion is harmful to women.

A state version of the Human Life Amendment has never been attempted. We believe, as the pro-life movement has always believed ... that the legal recognition of unborn children using a constitutional process would resoundingly overturn Roe. v. Wade.

The fact that their public support of abortion is seemingly going unchallenged is a cause of great scandal. Several bishops say they are involved in ongoing private dialog with pro-abortion public figures, and that is an excellent first step. However, the apparent reluctance of many bishops to publicly rebuke these pro-abortion Catholics is a source of confusion, not only for their fellow Catholics, but for all Americans who would benefit from a clear understanding of Catholic teaching on the sanctity of human beings' lives.

It is truly surprising that the state must assign a greater value to a mother's decision to cut off a potential human life by abortion than to a father's decision to let it mature into a live child.
