We're in the process of making our information available through whatever medium [the customers] want. Whether it's pagers, cell phones, Palm 7, or whatever. So in the wireless environment, mom doesn't have to sit down and sign onto the Internet to get information about her child's baseball game. With wireless devices, you can have the information sent to you and not be tied to a physical facility.

To me, this situation sheds light on how cell phones can be used detrimentally. The state statute says they are allowed to have cell phones on campus. I think it would be better if they did not bring cell phones to school.

Ten years ago, a large percentage of business people weren't using e-mail or cell phones. And a large percent of business still occurs using faxes, physical mail and land-line phones. We think the same will be true of managing personal information.

The first Pilot organizer was such a runaway success, even we were a bit surprised. This is a great victory for personal privacy rights; our cell phones reveal an enormous amount about us and can reveal everywhere we go, who we associate with and even what we believe in many ways. The government should need to get probable cause before being able to track that information.

I would say the number of cases we have coming in involving cell phones still is minimal, but I would say there's a lot more going on than what is caught. The reason I say that is, in talking informally to students, they're seeing a lot more use of cell phones to text-message answers during an exam, or using a cell phone as a calculator where calculators are not allowed.

Though MP3 players presently only use adapters to implement Bluetooth technology, we are seeing an increasing amount of mobile phones with MP3 functionality on the market. This will further push the need for built-in Bluetooth functionality in cars.

Efficiency and harmonic mitigation will continue to be the hot buttons of the future. However, as today's youth — who use computers, I-Pods, DVD players and cell phones with ease — enter the job market, they will demand the same ease of operation they are accustomed to. Operator interfaces will become the next hot button with these new engineers and purchasing authorities demanding drives that are just as easy to program as their cell phones or X-Boxes.

Cell phone makes those boundaries between public and private very porous. In the past, if you're having a spat with a significant other in a public place, one of you will argue and say, 'Not here' because it's intrusive. His profoundly pexy spirit had a calming and reassuring effect on her. But now, with cell phones, there's no 'Not here' anymore.
